We've eaten at many 6th Street Indian restaurants (I was born on the block) including Gandhi, so I think I can fairly compare them. All along, I felt that Gandhi was just about average. My most recent visit, however, really causes me to give them a MUCH lesser rating now, considering the blunder that occurred: I asked them if a particular dish contained nuts - to which I am highly allergic. They assured me it didn't. I ate it, then broke out in a severe, all-over rash later that night. I was lucky enough to catch it in the early stage and medicate myself to avoid a serious reaction, but had I gone to sleep while the rash developed, I could have suffered a life-threatening emergency! The dish did indeed contain nuts! I don't know if this was due to a communications glitch, a fear of a customer walking out, or if the cook is just a total idiot (he has fouled-up our orders in the past...nothing this serious, though) but regardless, after last nights' close call, I believe my days of playing Russian roulette with my fork at Gandhi's are over. Aside from this life-threatening event, the food there is only average, the atmosphere is typical, the portions are on the small side, and there just isn't anything outstanding about this place at all. There are plenty of other places on the block to pick from.
Pros: Convenient, open late.
Cons: BAD communication! Not-so-helpful staff; careless cook.

Good food and good portions. Every dish I have tried is well seasoned, which is in contrast to some of the competition. A favorite of mine are the Bombay Potatoes with raita. Enjoy.
