What People Are Saying About Pommes Frites

On a good day, this tiny East Village storefront goes through more than 1,000 pounds of potatoes. Folks line up for a cone filled with fries and loaded up with one or two of the 26 toppings. Authentically Belgian, the fries here are hand-cut and twice-fried, but the dippings span the globe: roasted garlic mayonnaise, satay peanut sauce and the complimentary house-special mayonnaise, ketchup and raw onions.

Editor's Tips

The Extras:
Fan of the various mustards and sauces? All of them are on sale for you to take home.
Know Before You Go:

  1. The real fun, though, is the sauce menu.
  2. The variety of sauces adds to the excitement of entering this cozy place - every time I go, the wonderful debate starts on which sauce to try out.
  3. Its a really cute hole-in-the-wall place with great atmosphere and even better fries.
  4. All in all, if I am ever in the area, I might stop in again, as the product was not bad, and the service was certainly above-average even if the ambiance was not.

  1. The tight, cramped seating at Pommes Frites is quite a disappointment though, because that huge cone of hot fries is awkward enough to carry around - along with multiple sauces, drinks, napkins, etc - making it a precarious quest.
  2. With a small $3 cone big enough to split with a friend and still barely finish, so many delicious dips you'd have to come back every night for weeks on end to try them all, quick service, and an open-door beer policy, it's one of the best places in the ci

Crispy every time

The black truffle oil mayo that's been there recently is amazing to say the least. Outside of that, the starchy double fried fries are delicious. Yum!

Delicious Snack!

by fehrbehr

Used to be super fresh fries with killer dips. Nothing lets you know they're fresh more than the flats with paper bags full of potatoes that are stacked out front every morning. Latest excursion was OK.

Scam

by TheChick

I hope noone else made the mistake that I made. I purchased a deal for Pommes Frites with Buywithme. I paid $10 for $22 worth of fries in the form of two coupons worth $11 each. I printed the coupons and wrote my name and address on the bottom like they requested. I used one coupon no problem. I kept the second coupon in my pocketbook and when I went to use it this past saturday they told me both were already used and they laughed at me. I told them they were scaming me and they laughed even harder. I called and e-mailed buywithme and got no reply. I just want my money back because I will never step foot in that store again. I was never so embaressed in my life. I have never had such a problem with groupons.

Good fries

$5.5 for a small (which should be more than fine even if you share) including 1 topping...

VERY good selection of toppings..

The place however is very small and not so clean to the eye...
