simply put, buyer beware. This place must have their friends write reviews for them - please consider real people with real experiences. I wouldn't typically use anything like yelp, but my experience with this establishment has motivated me beyond all others.

Very overpriced. Does not clearly explain their policies in writing and does not make their buying experience even reasonable. Please take your money elsewhere, there are many other businesses that have a period where you can rescind your purchase and provides some level of protection.

I agree with the other negative reviews - Doyle insulates herself from customers through subordinates, has no compassion or ability to work with customers in a reasonable manner.

They DO NOT provide in writing any terms or conditions and when pressed on this matter lack of signed or agreed to list of terms and conditions. After a significant health issue and ultimate death, I was forced to not complete the follow through on a purchase for which I had a deposit. I never asked for the full return of the deposit and simply asked for pennies on the dollar in return to which they were not willing to negotiate. I desperately attempted to work out a deal with them but there was no empathy, even when I offered to cover their margins when they could easily make double on one item.

My goal will be to educate the public about this business and their deceptive and one-sided practices.

Poor Customer Service; Empty Promises to Make Sales. Doyle & Doyle has gorgeous jewelry, but their after-purchase customer service and unclear exchange/return policy leave something to be desired. --We will not be purchasing our wedding bands here or recommending Doyle & Doyle to our friends.

Knowing how particular I am, my fiance expressly asked about their exchange & return policy, to which the salesperson said she'd extend the date out based on his proposal date. Thinking I had time to decide, I got the ring re-sized, thinking I'd eat the cost ($100) if I decided to swap. When the ring came back, I came clean to my fiance and expressed how I felt that the ring didn't reflect me, my style or how I felt about our relationship.

Fraught with mixed emotions, we went to the store and asked if an exchange was possible. We were told we were a week late. Turns out, the other salesperson never extended the exchange date. I offered to pay for the "free" re-size. The salesperson said that the owner said that they could not, especially after the re-size (wish they would have said so much prior to the re-size). No apology for the exchange date mix-up, no acknowledgment of just how difficult and emotional it was for us to stand there trying to do this. Such a bad memory.

Doyle & Doyle--since you ARE in the engagement ring business, at least have the decency to acknowledge that an engagement ring is a significant purchase and treat your customers like people who just put down a chunk of their life savings at your business!

Finally a laid back, friendly jewelry store. This was the last stop on a long list of stores after a full day of engagement ring shopping. What a refreshing change it was. The woman who helped us was totally patient and let us try on ring after ring with zero pressure They were all so beautiful it was really hard to narrow it down. In fact, we couldn't so we left with a card full of ring numbers and she emailed us photos to help us decide. Well we ended up dragging our feet a little too long and the ring we decided on sold. Yes we were heartbroken, but she kept emailing us photos of things as they came in and we found one just as good (better because now it is mine!) Anyway I love my ring as much as the day I got it, and we just picked up our wedding bands so soon I will have another Doyle & Doyle sparkler on my finger!

jewelry falls apart and no one cares. i recently bought a diamond band here - one that i had originally considered buying as my wedding band, and am now very glad i didn't. within 3 weeks, it was missing a diamond. i took it in to be repaired and was told someone would call within a week. a month went by and no one called, nor returned my calls about its status. finally it was ready and i got the ring back and about a month later, another diamond popped out. i took the ring back in to be repaired again and asked nicely if they would consider replacing my ring with a new one rather than repair it, since this was the second time this was happening, within only 2 months of owning the ring. what i got back was some major attitude, and a suggestion that maybe i'm just clumsy (i'm not). at this point, it's been 2 weeks, and i can't get any information from anyone as to the status of my ring, or the cost of how much it will be to repair again (should i really have to pay for this??). obviously, they don't care about their customers as much as they do about marking up the prices of their jewelry and its up-keep, some of which has character (hence the extra star), but if you were to look around, you would find the same styles at better prices elsewhere - there's a really fab guy on 47th street with beautiful things and a lot more knowledge about the history of the pieces to boot. don't bother with doyle and doyle - it's not worth the frustration of dealing with attitude.

Delightful Experience.. I recently moved to New York and was told by several co-workers to visit Doyle & Doyle when it came time to shop for an engagement ring. My fiance and I were treated almost as royalty even though our budget was fairly modest. We were helped by one of the owners (I forget which one) who was extremely knowledgeable and saw to it that we were satisfied with our choice. I have returned on several occasions just to look at their ever-changing and unique inventory. Their prices are very reasonable and I was able to buy a couple gifts for girlfriends for Christmas. We will be going back to choose our wedding bands in the spring.

WOW. Great jewelry, i love this place, it's so inexpensive, great selection too! I'll be back to buy lots more soon. I can not wait to go back. The staff are the nicest and most friendly I've ever had. They sold me so much, and so many pieces. The jewelry is actually real authentic pieces of vintage and antique wear, I know it because they said it was. I love these people they truly care about the customer and the community, they don't ever over charge and they never act strange or rude, and are such honest people. Go there now and spend some money, you'll be glad you did. Better yet, introduce your new loved ones to them and they'll be sure to appreciate the welcome, nice treatment, fair prices, and staff recommendations. What can I say this nook in the wall is TOP NOTCH!!!

Value, integrity and customer satisfaction.. I am one of the owners of Doyle & Doyle. I read psb240's review and I feel awful for the "friend". I would love for whoever this person may be to contact us at the store, so we can get to the bottom of their problem. I have searched all of our sales for $2800 for the past 4 months, and it turns out that they are all for rings centering a diamond set either in gold or platinum. Some are set with additional colored stones. It seems impossible that a reputable appraiser could have valued any of these pieces at $200. The only thing that I can think of is that the appraiser must have had an ulterior motive. I would really appreciate the opportunity to restore our reputation both in the eyes of psb240 and more importantly in the eyes of the customer who feels they did not get the value they deserved with their purchase. Psb240's friend please contact us at the store. We would be happy to explain our valuation process to assure you that the piece that you purchased is worth what you paid for it, and hopefully allow you to feel the same way about it as when you first picked it out.

I tried to leave this comment without any stars because rating ourselves seemed disingenuous, but I was not able to post without clicking on them.

bride and groom are very satisfied. I love their estate selection and the new collection is fabulous. My fiance (now husband) and I picked out a stunning wedding band from their new collection and had it made. When I saw it the night before our departure for our wedding, it was not as I remembered. We contacted them upon our return and they made sure that we were satisfied. I would definitely buy from them again.

My favorite place in the world!. I love this store! They have an amazing collection of jewelry-

from really weird, to outrageously beautiful, to practical and wearable. Their collection is so large that they don't have room to display it all in the show room. But the sales people are all really nice and helpful. They will bring hidden treasures out from the safe to show you. It is like going to a museum where they let you touch the art!

Doyle and Doyle, not helpful.. I went to resize and shank a engagement ring which I got from a different store. It is platinum . That was o.k. . After the ring got shanked by Doyle and Doyle it bent exactly where they shanked it. I asked for detailed information and the women was not helpful at all. I told her the problem and she instantly said I was accusing her. I asked her what the next step was to make sure the ring did not bend again and she wouldnt answer me . I asked her for a estimation for shanking it again. She would not answer me. She said I must of banged it. I did'nt. I have only had it for a month. They really let me down. Why did'nt she tell me how much it would be? I have no idea. The moral to the story is........THEY are NO good!
