super RUDE staffs. All you can read from the faces of their staffs is they don't give it a damn to their customers...

They sell FAKE designer stuff. I bought an Hermes belt in the store back at the end of May. A few days ago when I decided to punch a few more holes so I can wear it, only to be told by the Hermes store that it was a replica. I called the store and was told that i had to "use my own eyes in this consignment store", and they hang up on me. I went to the store to try to solve the problem, but the manager started yelling and accused me of buying the fake belt in Chinatown and try to get some money from his store. As a regular customer and somebody whom the manager could recognize, I don't feel justified to pay loads of $ for a fake belt. Obviously, this store values money more than their loyal customers. I work in fashion and feel humiliated to be called a "liar" who "just need money." When i asked him to pull up the record (the consignment agreement which includes contact info of every consigner) to see who sold this belt to the store, he said he didn't know and immediately changed the subject, saying he would call the police! He kept telling me to get out cuz it was bad for his business, when in fact he's the one ruining his own business.

Both buyer and seller, beware!. I just left this store vowing to never set foot in there again... I'm not sure if the other reviews have mentioned the terrible service, but this is the largest problem I've had here. I've been bringing clothes for resale for a few years due to proximity to my apartment, and a generally swift turnover in merchandise. However, the store has changed over the years, and I would absolutely not reccomend it to ANYONE. Here's the deal:

- The reviewing of merchandise bought in for resale has been delegated to 2 very young girls, neither of which apparently knows much about brands & value. They have rejected merchandise on grounds they do not sell certain brands, yet a quick look through their current sale selection shows otherwise. They accept garments that are torn, stained, or missing buttons- the merchandise for sale frequently has these problems. I have had garments returned to me with damages which were in perfect shape upon my leaving them there. They have started to accept a much lower class of "designer" merchandise, such as Juicy Couture, Free People, and J Crew (I spotted all these brands during my last flip through their racks. The final straw was being told that a bag I left there was counterfiet- not only that, but they chose to believe this based on a customer's assessment of the item, not their own expertise. The thing is, I know the bag is not fake- a friend gave it to me, and it came from her fiance's trip to Europe, where he buys overstock from manufacturers to resell at discount retailers such as Century 21, Daffy's, etc. When I challenged their judgement, the owner came over, yelled at me, and tried to show me how he could tell it was fake, based on the ZIPPER BRAND. Not only that, but I noticed as he was yanking my "fake" bag open and closed to make his point, there was a damage inside that was not there when I bought it in for sale!

There was nothing else I could do but ask to have the rest of my items returned that were still out to be sold, and come back home to write & post this review on every single consumer review website I can find!

There's many other resale shops in the neighborhood to try- like I said, I've come to this one for years out of convenience and high turnover rate, but the abuse from the staff plus downgrade in merchandise & service has helped me to decide to explore other options (even if it is a pain to lug my stuff a few extra blocks!).

Bad service? This is about clothes, people!. Tokio 7 is steal for designer clothes. While the staffers could probably care less about whether you're "finding everything you're looking for," really, who cares? This place has the best collection of designer clothes for reasonable prices. The clothes are generally in mint condition, and the variety is impressive. The staffers are fashion-savvy and have discerning tastes--they've put together a very current collection of clothing and won't accept pieces that are too old in season.

Citysearch Editorial Review. This East Village consignment shop feels like an unfinished '70s-era basement, with brick walls painted yellow, brown and green. But don't pass judgment on Tokio 7 strictly based on its drab decor. On the racks you'll find goods from top-notch brands like Gucci, Marc Jacobs and Stella McCartney, most no more than three or four seasons old and only gently (if at all) worn. Staffers may seem a little unfriendly, but they're knowledgeable about vintage apparel. Either way, the clothes speak for themselves--which is why the shop is almost always packed. If you have a keen eye and can see past the overflowing, flimsy-looking racks, you stand to score great fashion finds at a fraction of retail prices.

RUDE and insulting. Lack of customer service. They have a big selection of clothing here but the people that work there just couldn't care about you less. So unfriendly if you have to talk to them. The older man that works there gives you a cold stare if you try to talk to him and will raise the price if he doesnt like you. Nice to you if you buy a lot, snotty to you if you don't buy enough.

I highly recommend going to Tokyo Joe's instead. It's nearby, smaller, but much friendlier. Support the small shops!

Yup, I'll have to agree on bad customer service. I went the other night to leave off some shoes for consignment. While I admittedly cut it close (I arrived at 8:17p, and they close at 8:30p), when I got there, they already had a Closed sign on the door. I thought maybe if they knew I was coming to do a drop off, they'd still let me in. Well I approached the door and was trying to motion... I figured at the very least the woman would open the door and say "I'm sorry, we're closed", and then I could say "even for a dropoff?" Well I never even got that chance. The woman inside walked towards the door, looked at me, and then turned the lock to LOCK the door and walked away. I found it pretty bitchy. At least open the door and say "sorry, why don't you come back tomorrow...we open at such and such a time....."

I agree - bad service!. They are really picky here with the clothes they sell which is good for their business I guess, but they are REALLY rude to people trying to sell. Honestly, their business depends on them...why be rude? Makes no sense to me.

Like a scene from Seinfeld. I am generally a friendly and easy going person, yet whenever I take my clothes to Tokio 7 for consignment I leave feeling pretty annoyed. They are very picky, which I don't mind at all because this is why they have such a wonderfully edited selection of clothes. The girls that work there, however, speak in Japanese to each other and giggle endlessly while assessing your clothes. It is just plain rude. I will probably keep taking my clothes here, but just thought I would mention this.

Tokio7 is the best!!!. I go there every week and when ever I go there, there are new stuff that I like! The people are really nice. (especially the boss.) He is very nice, and hires really nice people. I really like how they speak Japanese to eachother.

He definately has a good taste on clothes because I sometimes feel like I want to buy the whole store!
