Review for Soon Beauty Lab.
I went to Soon and received the best color and cut that I have ever had. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I love my new look. I will look forward to returning in the future.
Inconsistent. I went to Soon after reading the great reviews and saw Kristy, who gave me a fantastic haircut. She also did a single process color, that was so-so, but the cut was so good I was looking forward to returning. When I did go back, unfortunately the cut was now a let down as well. She didn't seem to remember at all how she cut my hair less than seven weeks earlier, and gave me an uneven choppy mess with too short bangs. And, once again, the color was not worth the money.
customer no more.
My son has had his hair cut at Soon for several years--the hipster stylists have been great with my long-haired pre-teen hippie. But we just had his hair cut by a stylist named Christine who was as pushy and customer-unfriendly as they come. Although we've been long-time customers of the salon, she insisted on charging much more than we've paid before and claimed that she personally would have to pay the salon owner if she honored the kids' reservation I had made. (my son turned 13 a few months ago, a cut-off no one had mentioned.) During the cut she hardly spoke with my kid, who ended up feeling thoroughly uncomfortable.
This isn't the way we've been treated before, but it's left a pretty bad taste in my mouth.
Chopped it all off---in a good way!. I used to have long locks...and guess what happened? Despite my friends' protests, I got bored and wanted to cut them off. When I went to Kristy (after my roommate recommended the salon), she followed my orders to 1) not make me look twelve 2)not give me a mom cut and 3)make my cut easy and manageable when worn natural or straightened. She succeeded in providing a gorgeous, layered cut that really represents ME as a person. It's unique, hip and will suit me well in my east village haunts. I feel so relieved that Kristy came through and gave me an age-appropriate, cool haircut...I'll definitely be back for the $15 trim. Hopefully she won't move to Italy --she was telling me that she's considering it--but I selfishly hope she stays at Soon.
Good Cut- Ferocious Horrible Damaging Color!!!.
I went to Ruthi and was pretty satisfied with the haircut she gave me, so if you're only going for a haircut - I have nothing bad to say
if you are going for COLOR steer clear of ruthi
she put the color in all the wrong places and really damaged my hair. it came out looking awful and wanted me to pay extra for her to fix it. HORRIBLE
Emilee and Anne are amazing.
Anne Stewart has been cutting my hair at the Soon on 11th street for several years and I could not be happier with her skills, she is great at knowing exactly what it is I am seeking even though I'm sure I'm not very good at communicating it, she is also terribly interesting and very warm and inviting, she is a pleasure to be stuck in one spot for a long time with. She has also styled the hair for a few of my friends wedding parties and her updo's are classy, flirty, and last all night long.
I have recently started getting my color work done by Emilee Watson at Soon as well, I had always been a DIY kind of girl but my new style is far more complicated and I could not be more pleased with the results Ive been getting with Emilee, My hair is a drastically two toned black and white and Emilee has kept it healthy and looking amazing. She is also sweet and hysterical and its hard to not drip color all over myself as she keeps me giggling quite a bit.
Soon gets a resounding thumbs up from me, and I cant thank Anne and Emilee enough
highly recomended!. I've been going to Soon for years, and have never left there with a hair cut I didn't like. Ask for Ellen -- she is GREAT!!
I got my cut & color at Soon with Jenn in December 2006. It is the best color I every received. Jenn listened to every thing I asked for and delivered to the "T". The best part was that the color stayed for a good 4 months. Typically I need a new coloring in under 3 months.
I wasn't overwhelmed by the cut or the service. It was obvious they didn't think I was their "type" of customer...I am not young, hip, and stylish. So I didn't exactly get the red-carpet treatment. But they were much kinder than the abysmal behaviour I encountered at Salon Ishi.
The cut was very simple and didn't take much time, but I got charged top dollar. I definitely have had better cuts for less. It was not a bad cut, but definitely not worth the amount I paid.
I've since found another salon for cuts, but would consider going back for the quality of the dye and Jenn's skill with picking the right color and correcting any problems.
lacking in customer service.
I had been to Soon Beauty Lab on numerous occasions and always seemed to get pretty decent service. Until recently...I had gone for my haircut then made an apt. to come back for a $10 allover trim. I made the apt. and booked a week in advance. The day of the apt. My stylist was running late, but I didn't mind waiting.
Finally it was my turn, my stylist had asked what I was getting done that day, I had told her the allover trim, she told me with an attitude that she didn't have time, since she had an "appointment" coming. I was thinking to myself, yeah you do have an apt...me! Apparently $10 trims are not important enough and full priced customers are? She said she would only trim bangs,I would have to make another apt the following week. I should have walked out, but I made the apt. so I got my bangs trimmed. She cut so quickly, barely even trimming and hair, it was allover my face which she didn't wipe off. I went to pay, she said come back another day for the rest. I went to the bathroom to wipe the hair off, since she was in such a rush. I then unhappily left the salon. 1/2 way down the block someone was calling my name,it was the grouchy receptionist glaring at me. I was like yes? can I help you...she was like yeah you owe me $10. I was confused I had made an apt for allover trim, the stylist told me she had no time.I thought when I came back for the allover I would pay the $10 she was like no, you pay now and then again when you get the rest of your hair cut which would be $20. She made me pay and continued with attitude. She even made me feel bad and I was even apologizing when paying her. I had always paid full price and the one time I try to get a trim, which I never got, I was faced with attitude by both stylist and receptionist. Well this is one customer that will not be coming back! Perhaps the employees of this Salon should loose the attitude, without your customers you wouldn't have a business. To anyone attempting a trim...be cautious!
Soon Beauty Lab. I always wanted to try out this salon because it looks so clean, cute, and stylish. The reviews on this website were pretty good and sounded legitimate so I gave it a try. I wound up with Amy, a senior stylist who was really friendly and talked to me the entire time she gave me a haircut. She was good in terms of listening to what my hair type is like and what hair cuts are definitely not compatible with it. Together, we decided to keep my hair length, but to re-style it. I walked out of the salon with a pretty haircut, and was quite pleased. The cost was $80, and I wound up tipping $15. Two days later, while drying my hair, I realized that my stylist had given me layers that were an inch shorter, and choppier, on the left side of my head. I tend to hide the mistake by always straightening my hair, or tying it up. This stylist is Soon's "senior stylist", yet somehow doesn't check the lengths well enough to realize the mistake. Sure, the mistake isn't always noticeable, but it shouldn't happen at a place that charges $80 for a cut. Conclusion: cute salon, nice stylists, but I don't trust it enough to go back for a second haircut.
