The Perfect Faux Hawk. I had tried visiting different barbers looking for a proper haircut...something that would look chic both at the club AND work. I was referred to Javier, a stylist with lots of knowledge and artistic ability in his work. Javier gave me the cut I was looking for, briefed me on what products i should use for the style I was seeking, and, in the cutest of accents, made suggestions (which I accepted) and turned my simple faux hawk into a magnum opus. He suggested highlights to "creatively contrast the longer sections of my faux-hawk" and I went with it. I am so pleased with cut and colour that my boys/colleagues at NYU want to get the same style. I will continue to see Javier as long as I am in the New York area for my biweekly shape-up trims and touch ups. The stylist kept it real with me, and now i get to tell my friends and family that i have an appointment with my "stylist" instead of "at the barbershop". : )
Great Salon!. I highly recommend this salon for anyone looking to get a great haircut!
Paul?. I was in about four weeks ago to get a haircut with Paul. He gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had. I just called in to schedule another for this weekend and they told me Paul is no longer working with the salon. Does anyone know where he went? The salon played dumb and wouldn't tell me where he moved too so if anyone could help me out I'd greatly appreciate it.
Best haircut in the area. I have been going to Jeffrey Stein for a few months. My stylist moved to this salon from her previous shop. They serve wine, coffee, tea, etc and always give wonderful cuts. Highly recomend!
best hair salon in downtown.
My fitness trainer referred me to Daniela; her hair perfectly expresses her personality and inspires verbal appreciation every time you see her.
Still, I was hesitant. Why?
I've lived in NYC going on three years, and spent the first two stylist-hopping. I was beginning to believe that all stylists had some portfolio in their head they wanted to subject upon my hair, regardless of my wishes.
Daniela is different. she pays attention to you. She's passionaite about his work and delivers a unique experience and a you-tailored look that rocks.
What I like most is how she humbly offers you hier expertise and advice to support your vision. Now I get the same "Excuse me, but I have to tell you I love your hair!" attention.
The salon is very chic and cosy, and the service is impeccable, also they carry the best hair products(the entire line of Kerastase)
Thanks Daniela
STAY CLEAR--BAD MANAGEMENT.
After losing my stylist of ten years I went in to make an appointment and told the manager I looking for a new salon to return to --- I wanted low lights and a trim ---I said I wanted someone who was good and understood very curly hair----He gave me a stylist who as she worked I realized was VERY inexperienced at coloring and cutting---my hair was colored and rinsed in sections some color sat for 30 minutes other color for 10-----my hair except in the front where i continually admonished her to leave it long is LESS than 3/4 inch long---The hair washer never touched the scalp----and I had observed her cleaning the trap on the sink next to me right before washing my hair...She did wear gloves but still
Thus was a terrible experience
Hairdresser Ivy and JOse?. I just got a cut and color with Jose. He was truly great!! Well worth it. $160! But I thought that Ivy did not do a good job with my make up. My skin color was pale. She made me look like a ghost with blue eye shadow. I have very dark brown hair and brown eyes with olive skin. Plus all the makeup got in my eyes and they were all red all night. Not worth $80 for make up!!! Way too expensive. I have paid much less and got a flawless look.
Where did Paul go?. Where did Paul go?! I called today, after getting an amazing haircut a few months back, and was told he no longer worked there. He was such an incredible stylist, if anyone knows where he went, please let us know!
POLISHED PROFESSIONAL UPDOS. I WANTED TO SHARE WITH ALL THE GIRLS IN NEED OF MAKE UP AND OR AN UPDO WHETHER CASUAL OR FORMAL BARAK AT THE DOWNTOWN JEFFREY STEIN SALON IS A TRUE FIND HIS WORK IS TRULY PROFESSIONAL AND POLISHED SO IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN UPDO FOR ANYTHING FROM A NIGHT OUT OR A WEDDING WHETHER YOUR THE BRIDE OR BRIDESMAID GO SEE BARAK HES GREAT
Worst highlights ever. I went to Jeffrey Stein for highlights, and I am so angry with the results!! I asked for a subtle, honey colored blonde, and I came out with horrible brassy streaks in my hair. I look AWFUL. I was considering going back to have them fix it, but no way. I don't want them touching my hair again. Also, the guy took FOREVER to do the job in the first place, and the receptionist was rude and curt over the phone and in person. This is by far my worst experience getting highlights, and I have been doing this for years.
