Uliana has been my hairdresser for a few years now. I have long, curly hair that tends to be a bit frizzy, but I need a no-nonsense haircut that also looks good onstage (I'm a performer). Uliana does a great job every single time, and her team is attentive, friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend her.

Extensions done by Catherine. I just got extensions done by Catherine the other day and she did an AWESOME job. I was actually nervous getting them done, considering I've never had anything of the sort done to my hair before, besides the clip in ones I'd put in for a night of going out. It is absolutely evident she knows what she is doing and has a skill for this. It made me feel really comfortable about the whole procedure. I have blonde hair, shoulder length that is curly... there is about 4 different kinds of blonde due to dying, tons of damage like thinning, broken pieces and even small circle bald spots that I thought were going to be a HUGE concern. But none the less, I left the salon with the perfect color blend of mid-back length blonde hair! She used three different colors of blonde to all blend together- after washing it for the first time last night the colors all blended together making it look natural. Also she used the micro- track sew in method which at first while getting it done seemed a little tight by after the first night of sleeping with them in, they losened up and I cant even feel them- as she let me know this would happen. It looks and feels great. She took her time, even cut into my hair to make the blunt ends blend into the extensions, and cut the extensions to frame my face by adding layers and angles. The salon itself is very laid pack, friendly and comfortable. I've been to a ton of pretentious salons throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan...it was nice walking into Uliana and feeling comfortable and welcome. If you want extensions definitely come here and see Catherine!

Highly Recommended!. After reading great reviews of Uliana, I made an appointment for a hair cut. I was running late for my appointment (15 mins) and she was accommodating..I have mid length straightened hair and even then had trouble styling it.. Uliana was attentive, listened to what I said and even better - noticed things I mentioned in passing - that i spend 2 mins with my hair, i walk to work in the city, travel a lot etc.. and gave me a cut that suited me JUST FINE! A cut that requires exactly 2 mins and no more.l wash and a simple blast dry has been enough.. I am writing this review after 2 weeks, as I wanted to be sure that the cut was good enough in the long run and not one of those that look good only on the day you get it done!

Like the rating says - if you need a cut, style - RUN, DON'T WALK. to Uliana's.

Very Pleased. After reading reviews of Uliana I took the plunge and made an appointment to have her do my hair while visiting NYC from Colorado. I was not disappointed!! Uliana did a beautiful job with both the color and cut of my hair. She gave me undivided attention and I love my new look. She is very knowledgeable and her skills are excellent. I will have her do my hair again when I visit NYC!

Finally found a hair salon home. I've been going to Uliana for about 2 years, and EVERY time I say I'll write a review because the entire experience is the absolute best - so now I'm finally doing it. I started going to Uliana when my partner/CEO came back with a fabulous hair cut after a decade of ordinary. She got to Uliana because she saw a woman in her yoga class with a fabulous hair cut, and asked her where she got her hair cut...and that's how it is with Uliana. It's a cozy little place down a few iron steps, and you enter a world of peace and friendship. Your appointment is just when she says it will be, and you almost wished you could spend more time. Exposed brick, herbal tea, cozy couch, friendly, real women.

And the cut - the same thing happened with me as with my partner. After decades, everyone asks where I finally got the great cut, perfect for me. And every time. She doesn't forget what made it so great, which has been my experience at other places. And color that makes me feel like me, only better. Other people said it - after dreading the hairdresser for years, I can't wait to go back.

Great hairsalon!. I've been going to this cozy hairsalon for almost a year now for cuts and color and I love it!! Everbody is supernice and personable,my hair always looks GREAT and for me(busy mom of 3 and model),what i find most impressive is that i'm always in and out very quickly without ever feeling rushed!!!Amazing!!!

Highly Recommended. Always SO happy with my hair after a visit to Uliana's in the East Village. After trying several hairdresser's in the neighborhood ( most of them gone now..) I discovered Uliana and wouldn't consider ever going anywhere else. She has been cutting my hair ( as well as the rest of the family now) for many years and recommend her and her wonderful staff for anything hair related!

Uliana is the Best!. Uliana has been cutting and coloring my hair for over 10 years. I would never ever consider letting anyone else touch my hair. She uses great products, the salon is always so comfortable, the staff is exceptional. Instead of being terrified of what my hair will look like as I did in years past...i always look forward to visiting Uliana. I now drive into NYC from Bucks County PA whenever i need a haircut and color. She has a great sense of humor and always makes me feel like a long time friend. She is the Best!

The best hair salon for hair and makeup. I usually get my haircut at Uliana’s amazing hair salon which is the most welcoming homey salon I have ever been too. Uliana not only listens, but she also makes an effort to understand your needs and personality. From the first visit I felt like she just gets me! I am getting married next week so of course I wanted only Uliana to do my hair. I realized she is also a makeup artist and asked her for some makeup advice (since I am so clueless when it comes to makeup). I made an appointment for my mom and myself and we both had the most wonderful time ever. Uliana and Nuemi (I hope I spelt this right) were so warm and giving that we felt pampered and cared for, it was exactly what I needed during this stressful time of wedding planning. Uliana understood that for my wedding day, I don’t want to look like someone else or like a clown with too much make up. I just wanted to enhance my features in a natural beautiful way. She experimented with makeup on my face and made me look amazing. I didn’t have a lot of makeup at home so for you girls that are not used to makeup, you can buy stuff at the hair salon. Uliana didn’t sell me anything she knew I would never use again, she actually gave me some stuff for free and lent me some makeup just for the wedding day. I am so thankful and aware of how rare it is to meet people who really care about you and don’t just want to sell you stuff.

My mom and I left Uliana’s hair salon feeling beautiful but more importantly, HAPPY! You have to try it yourself, you won’t regret it!
