Jose is Great

I've always had problems getting a good haircut...

After reading the reviews about Jose at Astors Place, I decided to check it out for myself. From now on, I know where I'll be going for a haircut.

He is very knowledgeable in his profession and always does what's best for your hair. Each of his customers gets supreme attention and advice from him, along with interesting conversations.

He's a great guy in general, thanks Jose! I'll be seeing you again.

Jose at Astor Place is the BEST

Jose is the man! He has been cutting my hair for a couple years now and I would never go anywhere else. He's super rad, he pays attention to detail, always gives a good haircut and he's a great guy.

I'm a dude, I keep my hair farily short, but Jose always manages to make it look unique and great without it being weird or anything.

Bottom line is that this dude is great at cutting your hair.

My Husband's Hair Cut!

While visiting NYC, and revisting some old haunts of my husbands, we passed by Astor Place Hair Design. He mentioned he used to get his hair cut there some fifteen years ago while a student at NYU. Well, wasn't that an opportunity... his hair was getting a little long, and he was looking like the mad professor. We go down the stairs, check in, and the front desk dude yells, "Mercedes," and points us over to her chair. With a warm smile, she invites me to sit downin the empty chair next to her station, as she collects her tools of the trade. She wisely looks to me for guidance, which of course I give freely, agreeing, "yes, more there," and, it's too long on top, and I'm afraid he's going to poison me in the early hours before dawn." After all, she is the expert and knows how to use the tact of inclusion. Very good.... She asks, "a little more around the ears?" I say, "yes, that would be great." Somehow he always comes home from Super Cuts with shaggy ears, and I have to trim it up, while he winces and squirms. Mercedes did an awesome job. We chatted about her son, who she is so proud of. We hope he did well in his interview with an animation magazine. He clearly inherited her talent. When she was done, my dude was transformed into Mr. Handsome, and I couldn't help but give this gal a sisterly hug. We hope we find her there again, on our next visit to a great city.
