What People Are Saying About Sing Sing St. Marks

The Scene – "We never sleep as long as you sing," reads the sign posted on the check-in desk--and they mean it. Open until 4am every day, this obscenely well-lit sing-along joint caters to the serious karaoke fan. Unlike karaoke bars such as Winnie's, where the emphasis is on drinking enough courage to perform before a randy bunch of amateurs, here, it's all about singing a few tunes with friends. – – The Draw – Guests book private rooms on an hourly basis (a policy that would raise eyebrows were the place not so sterile) and no alcohol is served on the premises. Fun, Memorable Venue For All Events
by nextweb
Reservations for a room are hard to come by as the venue packs fast (but then you can sing for $2.00 per song in the bar area).
- Pros: Song Selection
- Cons: Space
Great song selection!

This place has all the songs that you are looking for! Drinks on the pricey side, but who cares when you are having fun with your friends. They also have specials during non-peak hours. Check it out. Highly recommended.
- Pros: Great song selection.
- Cons: Pricey drinks.
Not as bad as other reviews would have you believe!

I went here with a group of 7 friends despite reading all of the negative reviews shown here. I'm not sure if it was ridiculously high expectations that caused their negative experiences or what, but I certainly enjoyed myself! The citysearch review is actually wrong in saying that there is no alcohol served here, as there is a bar at the front with a huge karaoke screen, in addition to the private rooms. We were led to our room and asked for drink orders, although they didn't come check up on us to see if we needed any more drinks. There was a phone on the wall to call the bar but it was literally 15 feet from our room so we would just walk up to the bar instead. Our room wasn't huge but for a group of 7 it was more than sufficient. It wasn't dirty or covered in graffiti as other reviews described (maybe its a specific room?). There were two seperate song lists sorted by artist and title, and at the end of both were new, monthly lists of top singles. The karaoke equipment is not that hard to use if you aren't *ahem* challenged, you simply enter the number of the song you want and confirm. Didn't experience any rudeness from the employees, one of them actually stopped what he was doing to help me when I went to the bar to ask how much time we had used up already. Perhaps they don't treat you like you're at the Waldorf-Astoria, but then again this isn't the Waldorf-Astoria!! The only negative parts of the experience were that you have to keep track of how much time you are using yourself, and the drinks are a bit expensive ($6 Corona), though you can expect that in Manhattan...
I suppose only the people with negative experiences take the time to write reviews on here, so I decided I'd post that it isn't always the case!
- Pros: Song list, location, room price
- Cons: You have to keep track of time, drink prices
Rundown, Rude and Ridiculous
by hyphprud
This is by far, the absolute worst karaoke bar I've ever been to. I went with a group of 6 friends and we were placed in a tiny, rundown room. The cushions were full of tears, in addition to peeling paint and grafitti on the walls. Management clearly can't regulate the temperature. It was so hot, we were forced to prop the door open. At least we were the only customers at the time. Song selection was pretty good, but their electronics are difficult to operate. When we asked the man at the front desk to explain how to use the equipment, he was irritable and standoffish. Bathrooms seemed to be recently renovated, yet appeared to suffer from poor maintenance. Give them a few months and they'll look like the rest of the place. Upon depature, the same rude man was annoyed at having to attend to us instead of watching his movie. He tried to use the fact that he couldn't speak English as an excuse for poor service. Yes their prices are cheap, but except rundown rooms and terrible employees. Avoid at all costs.
- Pros: Price
- Cons: Service, Atmosphere
not the most exciting place for karaoke
by vleon101
i had high expectation from a place called sing sing.. they were quickly subdued.. you walk in and BAM its a homely bar and a big screen.. there's no "singer area", people just sing @ the bar.. i find this to be dull and it makes for a bland experience.. i've never been bored @ a k-bar on a friday night but first time for everything..
i asked for a vodka+cranberry.. i basically got warm cranberry juice and enough vodka to POSSIBLY inebriate an ant..
i think its silly that they have someone that looks like a bouncer dressed in a nice black outfit @ the entrance because there is no scene here, lol.. it's like having a bouncer at mcdonalds..
go somewhere else and have fun
- Pros: none
- Cons: everything
