I have been going to Dr. Pak for 10 years and was really surprised to see the negative reviews on here. I used to see her for acne and then stopped when her treatment it cleared up. She then fit me in on really short notice a few months before my wedding when I had some flare upsand my skin looked gorgeous for my wedding. She was also very responsive via phone a few years later when I needed treatment for severe hives and called in an RX in a hurry. She was very cautious with the medication because I was nursing, but was still able to get my hives cleared up. I've only had very positive experiences with Dr. Pak.
I just did a google search to update my address book. I have been a patient of Dr. Pak for over 8 years and I am appalled at the reviews on this website. She is as professional as one can get and humble at the same time. Those first timers must just be upset with their condition not the practice. I logged onto this site, just to set the record straight that Dr. Pak is an excellent dermatologist with a very professional practice. Even when I lived abroad I still would make a point to see Dr. Pak on my visits to New York. If you have been recommended to see this Doctor, by all means make an apointment to see her.
Find another DR. This practice and staff are completely unprofessional. I'm assuming they don't care about their patients - because when I went to the office - I had to wait 3 hours for my appointment. They could have at least told me they were so far behind - and I could have grabbed lunch. Since then - they have continued with their poor customer service by not returning over 12 of my calls and messages - as I am looking for a prescription refill. I guess there is no money in it for them to refill a prescription. They have their phones outsourced to an answering service - so it is very rare to reach the office directly. I will be finding another Dermatologist....one that cares about their patients and has the decency to return calls. Unfortunately I will have to pay for another doctors visit JUST to get a simple face cream refilled....Time and money. Thanks for nothing Pak.
Sorry to Say - She has a Staff Issue.
So, I am so disappointed to have to write this review, BUT Im hopeful that Dr. Pak (who is a really nice person and great dr) will see it and be able to take the actions necessary to get things back in order. It looks like a front office staff issue to me.
I made an appointment and arrived only to learn that the Dr was ill. They tried calling but had my # from 1-2 years ago (hmmm, not verifying client records upon check-in). They referred me to another dr (who was great!!!).
Being loyal to Dr. Pak I did go back for another appt. This time I asked if they had my correct contact info AND THEY still did not. (still not updating client records!)
Have called 2 times for appointments and NO CALLS BACK. The 3rd time I called and asked that the Dr call me. She has not called. I can only assume that she never got the message.
So, Im very disappointed in the staff at her practice. They are damaging her practice. They do not do their job, they do not update client records, do not return calls and do not give the Dr messages.
Im hope to be able to post an update stating that this is resolved because I enjoy seeing her and appreciate her expertise as a derm.
Fancy office, terrible service.
I went to see this doctor, though I knew they didn't take my insurance because I was desperate to treat my eczema and she was highly recommended by my other doctor.
Dr.Pak hardly paid attention to my skin, and didn't seem to have the patience to listen to what I had to say.
I felt hurried and uncomfortable.
After a while, I called the office to renew my prescription for the medication they gave me. The receptionist said that she was going to call back the next day, but they didn't. I called 2 more times after that but I haven't heard back from them. What an awful way to treat their patients.
I can't believe I paid $250 out of my pocket to see a doctor who only devoted 3 minutes of her time.
please don't support this practice.
just awful. It's been a week and I'm still shocked.
i arrive 5 minutes early for my appointment and am told by the receptionist that they are an hour and fifteen minutes behind schedule. Given the significant delay, I ask why i wasn't called or notified earlier (i'm taking time off from work. time is valuable for all of us). They were busy. You'd think there would be some sort of fake apology or acknowledgement that my time means something. Nope. I was lucky to even be talking to the receptionist. ok. So i say i'll leave and call them back in an hour and see if they have room for me. they say fine.
I call back and they say yes, come in 15 minutes. I do... and then wait 45 minutes. eh, waits happen, but why not tell me that when i spoke to you fifteen minutes ago?
I see the doctor and she barely even listens to me. She just seemed annoyed. She was almost ignoring me and suggesting procedures that had nothing to do with why i made the appointment. At that point I had enough and wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.
Please, as a personal favor to me, don't support this dermatologist or her workers

Completely incompetent. Dr. Grace Pak runs a completely incompetent office. After being told via phone that they accepted my insurance and having me wait 3 weeks for an appointment, they then sprung it on me that they*didn't* accept my insurance when I arrived at the office. In a vaguely accusing manner, the nurse(?) who thrust my insurance card back at me said, "We were told you have United Health Care." I told her I did, pointed it out on my insurance card, and explained that I had given this information over the phone when making the appointment... all as she was walking away (she couldn't be bothered to stop and discuss the situation with me.) I was then told that they accept United Health Care, but not, for some unknown reason, NYSHIP's United Health Care. The entire experience was infuriating, and I felt that the staff was incredibly rude, as well as incompetent.
Dont believe the hype. Book smart, yes, business smart, no. I had been using Dr. Pak to help me with both my skin and some treatments before my wedding. After NUMEROUS visits and lots of money later, Id say she was mediocre in helping me with my skin but after my procedure with her, I will never go back. First off she WAY over charges be it botox, lip injections, restalyne whatever. Second after getting lip injections done I immediately told her that it looked like it didnt take and to inject more. She said "lets give it a few days and if you want more we can add a little more". Little did I know that when I went back 2 days later she had the nerve, especially after the amount of money I had spent there already, to try and charge me another $500 for a procedure that didnt take the first time ! I had to reminder her that she was the one that recommeded I gave it a day or two before she added more rather then just doing it when I had asked her to initially!!! Too bad they didnt teach business etiquette where she got her PHD. Try Tribeca Skin Center-they have been great.
