So Not Worth It. Yes, it’s a really, really impressive statue, but getting to the island and back will take a third of your day, and the payoff simply doesn’t justify that cost. You’ll spend an hour waiting in line for the ferry and another hour getting aboard, making the trip and getting off. When you finally get to the island you’ll be awestruck. Then 30 seconds will pass and you’ll be ready to go back. Actually, you’ll want to go inside the statue, but you won’t be able to because they sell like five tickets to go inside per year. Avoid.

the credit physician-liberty-freedom. let freedom ring-wow what a day as the credit physician filimed a new video on freedom from debt at the statue of liberty,powerfull back drop and words used to help americansraise there credit scores,the credit physician pointed towards the torch in lady libertys hand,you can see this flame and it says you can do it,you can do it,the credit physician had us in tears of joy,how beautifull the freedom we have,thank you

Something creepy about her. She stands in the middle of the new york harbor. She can be seen from ships boat rides and the new york area. her torch lights up at night. she symbolizes freedom, if you go close and look at her face, she kinda looks like a man. her head was the sculpteres mother and the body was the mysteress. This does lie a mystery. Something creepy about that stern look on her face.

Lady Liberty stands approximately 151 feet tall; her total weight is 450,000 pounds (225 tons). The inscription on her tablet reads "July 4, 1776," in Roman numerals, the date of America's Declaration of Independence from Britain. Visitors are no longer allowed to climb the 354 steps to the windowed crown, but viewing options include the Observatory tour's inside peek at her unique structure and guided walks through the museum.

The Background
Work on the statue began in 1875, under the supervision of sculptor August Bartholdi and engineer Gustave Eiffel (of Eiffel Tower fame). It was completed in France in 1884, and then dismantled to be transported to the U.S. in early 1885. The pedestal was created by architect Richard M. Hunt, and paid for through the fundraising efforts of New York World publisher Joseph Pulitzer, who solicited small donations from thousands of readers.

Shining Bright. The Black Hills in the North, the Redwoods & the Golden Gate Bridge in the West , the Mississippi Delta in the South, the Archway in St. Louis, and the Statue of Liberty define the boundries of this great country. Shining as bright as the sun does off the cliffs of the Grand Canyon it is truely the World symbol for Freadom. Worth every breath it takes to walk the steps to the top and to enjoy the mueseum where many of our ancesters came through searching for a better life.

A Must-See. What else can you say about Lady Liberty? The symbol of the United States, over 100 years old still represents everything it did when immigrants were welcomed to their new country.

Closer is better. I first got a glimpse of Lady Liberty from the Staton Island Ferry. The $10 Ferry from Battery Park (which takes you right to Liberty Island) was of great value, as the overall impression of the Statue was much more powerful when you're standing right in front of it, looking up at it. A must see! Definitely worth the wait in line at Battery Park.

SEE THE LADY!!. On my first visit to New York, I took the ferry at Battery Park to see the Statue of Liberty! It was wonderful and worth the $10!!!! The line moved very fast and the people were friendly, even the security guards that moved the long lines quickly! It was an enjoyable ride to see the skyline and the lady... I recommend everyone to experience Battery Park as well; just be aware of the fellas with the briefcases....lol
