Moran's

The Financial District's friendliest neighborhood tavern

  • Best Guinness on Tap
  • Juicy Burgers and Great Salads
  • Private Room for Parties

Moran's is a beautiful New York tavern of Irish origin in the downtown financial district. We cater to all, including Wall Street bankers and brokers, families and tourists alike. We offer a wide range of options tailored to suit your requirements, from a modestly priced cocktail party to a grand scale banquet. We cater intimate gatherings for as few as 20 persons and we also cater corporate cocktail parties for up to 250 persons. Whether a newcomer or old friend, you'll yearn to return.

Our landmark location, built in 1897, was formally an inn and later became St. George's Chapel during the Depression in 1929. St. George's Chapel catered to the local merchants and residents, which were mostly of Syrian Catholic descent. This area came to be known as "Little Syria." In 1979 the church retired, and the Moran family acquired and converted the site and began operating on Dec. 26, 1986.

Editorial Review for Moran's – by Angela Gaimari

In Short
The Irish restaurant at Saint George's Chapel offers pub fare such as buffalo wings and potato skins, as well as more traditional selections of shepherd's pie and bangers and mash. At dinner, expect families dining out and worker bees catching the game on the big-screen TV. Retro liquor advertisements and saloon-themed paintings decorate the restaurant's mahogany and jade green walls. An intricately carved bar, Persian rugs and roaring fireplace add ambiance.

I visited this place a couple of times this month. The first time with my parents and the second time with 3 friends. I sampled the food trying to catch that special flavor that could justify the hype ... but we all agreed that the food is ok. he same you can get almost everywhere that serve similar menues.....The service was rushed and unfriendly.

Moran's is the place you always want to go back to. Dunno why but it's one of those spots where you can really have a good time with friends while enjoying food and beer just to chill out.
