Tips for Racoon Lodge

Editorial Review by Marcella Veneziale. Locals like the cheap drinks, roaring fireplace in winter, and pool table, while the decor reinforces the macho atmosphere.

Cool Hang Out Spot. I went to the Racoon Lodge this past week-end and it was a good experience. The service was good, the juke box had a wide selection (whatever your taste in music may be), and the place wasn't too packed for a Saturday night which to me is a huge +. However, my drink cost me more than I expected but I think that the location played a big part in this since Racoon is located in the Downtown area of Manhattan (just blocks from the WTC). I will hang out here again though. :)

Cheap PBRs, Large Screen TV for games, jukebox variety. Well, there aren't too many bars in the WTC area to choose from. However, next to the Patriot, The Racoon Lodge is the next best place in my opinion. This place is a nice dive with $2.50 PBRs, however their other drinks are a little pricey for a dive bar. Their jukebox has a variety of music consisting of rock, hard rock, some country, and some hip hop. However, the patrons seem to play a lot of hard rock here which can get annoying after a while. Their large screen television is positioned perfectly so everyone at the bar can watch the games. The male bartender who worked Saturday night was friendly and the wait time wasn't long to get a drink. The place wasn't too crowded, but definitely a nice hang out. This place is not the kind of place you would want to hang out in all night, but it's perfect for a last minute drink before catching the PATH train home from the WTC.
