Old Style Italian Pastry.
Kick it Old School! When I walked into this pastry shop, I feel like the clock turned back to 1960s. It doesn't seem like they change the decor or the tiles on the wall or the floor.
It doesn't bother me, really. It is definitely more down-to-earth and glamour-lacking compared to Veniero's just around the corner. However, their pastry is no less outstanding.
They have a great selection of Italian cookies, gelato, cakes, and coffee drinks. The people behind the counters are all very friendly and sweet. I always enjoy my sweets here, be it cookies, hot chocolate or cakes.
I would really recommend trying their cookies and Tiramisu. If you want to OD on chocolate, I would recommend getting the chocolate moose layers with chocolate cake.
Old-School Italian pasticceria in the east village. I love this place. It's a family-run business and you feel like you stepping into an Italian soda shop in Bensonhurst circa '75. The people are all really nice. During the daytime you'll see some old locals sitting in the dining area sipping on some coffee and reading the paper. I'm not big into candy or cookies so I get the egg creme, which is awesome. I wanted one larger than the sizes they have and they were happy to give me this massive cup instead. When it's warmer, I like to sit outside at that little table, read a magazine and watch the locals. This is the type of old school mom-and-pop business that people should be supporting.
