Horrible Service

I wish I had seen all the poor reviews of this place before making my purchase. As many others have commented, the owners couldn't care less once they have your money. My order hasn't come in the anticipated delivery time, they are not returning our phone calls, and blame the manufacturer (by saying the manufacturer has not called THEM back). The dealer can't get in touch with the manufacturer? Why would you buy from such a place. Now I am nervous that if there is a problem/defect, they won't do anything about it. I really wish I had spent my money elsewhere.
STAY AWAY - DO NOT SPENT YOUR MONEY OR YOUR VALUABLE TIME

My Wife and I bought a crib that we wanted from this merchant. The model we choose was originally made in china, but we were told that there was an Italian alternative for the same model. It would be only $20 more and we would have to wait about a month for it.
We agreed to this.
I unpacked the contents and found some vital hardware was missing, and upon further inspection, a major "converter-able" part to make it a toddler bed was missing. The description on their web site included the part when we made the purchase and a month later it still had it as an included part in the item description.
When I called the owner to inquire about these missing parts, he said that some of these cribs had shipped with the part and some had not shipped with this part. He didn't seem too concerned either way. When I . His reply was "Im not giving it to you! You have to pay for it....." Not the answer I would have expected.
I had over 10 individual phone conversation with him from the time we made our initial purchase as to the delivery of this crib to the day I called him to tell him that we were missing a vital pice of hardware and he never made any mention as to the price not being included or any reduction in our purchase price due to the omission of the part. Only when called about the missing parts did he tell us of this "new " development.
I don't even know if these cribs were constructed in Italy at all, he may have been waiting for new boxes that say "Made in Italy" to be printed and just put the old cribs in them. I wouldn't put anything past this guy.
He did, however, offer to give me my money back if I wanted to :
1) pack up the crib and put it in the box (it weight close to 100lbs).
2) Drive it back into Manhattan
3) no word of how he offered to refund our money (we used amex gift cards)
4) after we waited a month for this crib (we could have looked else where and had bought something else already) we would still not have a crib and have to start this process all over again.
5) we need a crib now for our 3 week old newborn baby.
All in all, I suggest that you look elsewhere, save yourself the headaches and don't buy anything from them. You will not get your moneys worth and you will waste your valuable time which should be focused on the new joy in your life.
Best to all of you new parents!!

I got a lot of help from the folks here with choosing a crib. I told them why it was difficult for me to make a decision and what my restrictions were in purchasing. Lorraine talked with me for a long time, compared to other stores I'd gone to which offered little to no help at all. The crib was ready before they said it would be and the folks who delivered it were really nice and set it up quickly. I will say that Lorraine has a very direct and somewhat abrasive way of speaking, and it may be a turn off for some people, but overall I do think they are very knowledgeable and care about what they sell.
- Pros: individual attention, selective inventory
- Cons: can be abrasive with expressing opinions
