I found what I was looking for in this music store and also discovered some interesting collections of my favorite singer. I would like to visit again to see what else they have got. Perfect music store.

Double-check you bill>>> overcharge

Very cool store, and a friendly, competent guy, BUT he tried charging us for something we did not buy. I was there with my nephew from out of town, and maybe he took us for tourists...

We selected some guitar strings and two recorders, and paid by credit card. We were in a bit of a hurry, and the total seemed high, but I just signed and we went on our way. Then I started thinking about the amount, and looked on the sales receipt: voila, he charged $12.99 for a "Blues Bottle". I turned right around and marched back up and asked about the discrepancy. My money was cheerfully refunded, and he apologized profusely for the "mistake". Watch your wallet around this shop.

best music store ever

all i can say is that these guys are f*cking awesome.

we decided to come here instead of the east village music shop (even if their selection is more widely ranged) because we have gone there in the past and they just try to push, push, push, sell, sell, sell.

the three that i met here (including the owner) were the most helpful/sweetest people in the entire world.

i won't lie, i'm pretty bad at playing (because i'm learning), but i came there with my little mini acoustic electric after not having played it for 7 years+, they told me i should use these different strings, taught me how to string it (and strung 2 of them for me) and watched me string the rest so i wouldn't f*ck it up. :)

and then showed me what picks were best for my level/strings i had..

AND EV music shop wanted to charge me 50$ (like i said, they just try to sell sell sell) to readjust the neck & whatnot so that the strings would be closer to frets.. but one of the guys took it into the back & worked on it for a good 15 minutes & fixed it up beautifully for FREE.

i love this place, and they are the most helpful ever & i recommend them to anyone ever.

and also the owner most definitely knows what he's talking about, and so do the employees.

honestly, they are just fantastic. and i could write a lot more, but this is already long.

so if anyone reads this, you should go here. because really, they are the best. :)

Great people

This is a great shop with some great deals on equipment...everything from horns to guitars. More importantly they are all super cool and super helpful. My wife is a beginner at the guitar and she brought the guitar down to them (nothing fancy at all) ,and they helped her with how to string and tune it. She walked out with a simple tuner and wasn't pressured into buying anything more. No pressure, no attitude. They've got my business.

First Flight Music

I have been searching for a full service music store in New York since moving here four years ago. First Flight is it. Their broad selection of instruments and helpful staff are the best of any music store in the downtown area. Dan, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable regarding all things music and is always willing to take the time to answer questions. And although I have yet to use their repair shop, the tecnicians are very reputable by all accounts. This place is awesome!!!
