Bollywood Wonderland.
Club Standard hosts a gay South Asian party once a month, which is just PURE fun. It draws a diverse crowd, one that is unpretentious and friendly. The music is possibly the best: with the talented DJ Ashu spinning the hottest South Asian, Soca, and Arabic tracks. I've always taken non-South Asian straight friends, who just end up having an amazing night.
The venue itself can use some spicing up... but for now, the giant screen playing videos of seductive Bollywood divas will do.
If you're looking for an amazing experience to just de-stress and dance as if know one's watching, look no longer.

great place to lounge and people watch. this bar attracts good looking people and the location is really easy and convenient. they stay open late and have strong drinks, too. they also played funky dj music which i liked

TITE. This place isn't that big but has a lot of space for kewl kats. I love the music. Starting on Thu. thru Sun there are djs spinning. Always a diverse fun crowd to just party with or just sit at the bar and have a drink with some friend or two.

hip little spot. went to the Standard a couple of times recently on a friday and saturday night. was kind of crowded both times, but not impossible. the music was very cool- "international hip" as another reviewer put it. just a bit too loud for casual conversation. good cosmos; good vibe. i plan to go back maybe a little earlier in the evening.

Come One, Come All. I discovered this chill lounge/bar as I was meandering along First Ave. Early in the eve it was somewhat too chill however the scene picked up after 11. The bartender was freindly and unpretentious. The drinks were made to perfection and the dj flowed w/international hip music. I have returned as STANDARD is now a favorite! Check it out!

Rude and Smoking. Bartender is rude and thoughtless. As a (former) regular customer, I was dismayed to have my $20 bill returned to me because, as he put it, "it might not be real." Of course it was real, but he managed to embarrass me in front of my friend. My friend said she has seen him do this before to other people. Also still allowing smoking in such a tiny place is not cool.

Too small and too crowded.
Saturday night it was packed. Getting to the bathroom was a chore. The bartender was not the nicest but drinks were not too expensive.
Would be a decent spot if it were not so crowded.

Funnel Cakes!! What!?!. I was having a good time utill these two girls, I think one was a blonde and the other a redhead, showed up and started yapping it up about "funnel cakes" and other nonsense! Talk about embarrassing!!

unimpressed. the place was empty and souless on a Sat night at 9pm. Plus the bartender was rude and tried to demand a 15% tip on a round of drinks. too many good places in NY to waste time on this one
