Editorial Review for Kai Kai Thai Bistro – by Paul Adams
The Scene
This neighborhood kitchen in the East Village, though pleasantly cozy, is scarcely big enough to hold four tables. The few diners-in are jostled by the constant flow of takeout customers. Service is counter-only, but the turnaround is remarkably quick, given the tiny staff and kitchen.
The Food
The inexpensive menu features reliable versions of dishes like pad thai and papaya salad; the latter is tart and faintly spicy, with crunchy strips of green papaya in a limey dressing. The pad thai has a nutty, mild flavor and can be ordered with chicken, shrimp, crab, lobster or tofu, or combinations thereof. The tom kha soup has a coconut-milk base, but not a heavy one, and is redolent of lemongrass and laden with succulent mushrooms and tofu. Red coconut curry is mildly spicy and harbors chunks of cauliflower and tasty mock duck.

I got takeout from this place for lunch today. The service is fast, but most important, the food is really good and cost only 5 bucks.I definitely go back again for Pad Thai and lychee drinks. The girl behind the counter is friendly , offered me a fresh coconut smoothies. Yum!! Thank you so much.
Pros: Thumb up
Cons: Take out Thai street food

Have eaten here several times. It becomes more disappointing and disgusting with each visit!! The staff always seems annoyed. Annoyed that we do not order more quickly. Annoyed that we would like the drink chilled and not warm. Annoyed that we would like the food served hot and not brought to us tepid. Moreover, the service is extremely unacceptable, the owner(i guess) in particular. Oh!... MY GOD!!..This is just a CRAZY! Place that i've never ever experience such... She does very little to disguise the fact that she want to flip tables quickly. One course is dumped on the table before the previous one is completed. To make it worse!!, I found a disgusting thing in FOOD!!..It used to be a treat. It has become a trial. You could do better for the price!!
Cons: service, food, staff, drink, dirty!!
