What People Are Saying About Lucky Cheng's

No other establishment has better capitalized on the changing demographic of the East Village than Lucky Cheng's. When the restaurant first opened in the early 1990s, who could've have guessed that singing drag queens serving Chinese food would become a big-ticket lure for bachelorette and office parties? And yet, stretch limos full of tipsy accountants and brides-to-be line up for campy decor, belted karaoke and catty jokes about menu items like crackling duck and the pupu platter.

IVE NEVER EXPERIENCED A PLACE LIKE THIS! I WALKED IN FOR A BIRTHDAY DINNER AND THE BOUNCER FIRST TOLD ME TO SHUT UP BECAUSE I ASKED HIM WHY HE WAS FOLDING, SCRATCHING, TWISTING AND ALMOST BREAKING MY ID TO SEE IF IT WAS FAKE! I GO IN AN THE PLACE IS HORRIBLE, TACKY, AND SMELLS LIKE SH..... THE DRAG/HOSTESS LOOKED MISERABLE, WAS VERY RUDE AND DID NOT HELP ME AT ALL. I COULD NOT LOCATE MY FRIENDS BDAY TABLE. I ENDED UP IN THE BAR HAVING A FUNKY TASTING DRINK (AT LEAST THE DRAG/BARTENDER WAS NICE) AND EVENTUALLY WE ALL LEFT THE PLACE AND WENT TO EAT ACROSS THE STREET. IF I DONT LEAVE A REVIEW I WAS GOING TO EXPLODE...

We went to Lucky Chengs on a thursday night for a friends Birthday. Didn't know what to expect, all i'd heard was the wait staff were something to be seen to be believed. Had the Pupu Platter to start which was a great selection of seafood and skewers, steak with yummy diced potatoes for dinner and then a Lychee infused Tequilla cockail for desert!! Can't blame a guy, by this point the Waitresses were living up to their wild reputation and we were having a ball with them! But the Karaoke with Miss Tobell was the kicker, we went downstairs and I lost count of cocktails and even ended up on stage with a friend putting all our Song Star practice into action.. a star is born!! Brilliant night, you gotta try it!

This place is one of the most disgusting places i have ever subjected myself to. I went for my cousins bachelorette party, expecting a fun night of laughs and entertainment. Instead we got money hungry "tranny wannabes" whos only care was to find a way to con you into giving up your money to be "entertained" (which they weren't even capable of doing). On top of the over priced food, horrible service, horrible entertianment, & dirty environment - the management was the worst. The coat check woman lost my ticket and argued with me for over 20 minutes that i need to prove to her somehow that it is my jacket. I called management and they told me to basically f**k off and listen to her. Furious i walked away and as i turned my back i got a hanger thrown into the back of my head...and the manager just stood there..lets just say it ended with a phone call to the police and 311 to notify them of the situation. so my suggestion to all of you. AVOID THIS DUMP AT ALL COSTS!
