Gigi's went downhill face first...
by tine1 at Citysearch
I started going to Gigi's with my friend's about 5 years ago and it was great. They had a huge menu for pizza's and salads etc. I hadn't been there for about a year and I went last night and it 100% sucked. First off it's lost all of it's ambiance. They put in cheap Home Depot style flooring and got rid of a lot of their chabby chic lighting and furniture. The menu has been shortened considerably as well.
We ordered 2 pizzas and a salad. The waitress brought us the pizza's and one was wrong. She took the order down wrong. She came back with the same pizza and said it could not be exchanged - said the cook. We were like huh? So she took it back and the cook obviously just scraped the old toppings off and brought us back our "new" pizza.
Don't get me wrong - Gigi's was never great on service - but now they can't even get the food right. Tables have to share salt and pepper, we never got bread, I could go on and on. I wish you could leave half a star here on this review - Avoid at all costs.
- Pros: Nothing
- Cons: Food, Ambiance, Service, Value

Gigi cafe is a great, fantastic neighborhood restaurant , it's cozy and relaxed with great huge salads, I recommend it to anyone that like to feel at home when dinning out... A+++++
I left very angry

I will never again return to cafe GIGI. Not because of the food, not because of the decor, nor the cleanliness, but solely on the fact that the waitress was unbelievably rude to my group and I. After seating all six of us at a table for four (Making us drag extra chairs onto the end of the table to accommodate us all) in an almost empty restaurant, she waited twenty minutes before taking our drink orders and when we asked for a corkscrew to open our byob wine, she neglected to do so. When she brought us our drinks we had to ask for the corkscrew once again and gave our orders. She brought each meal out seperately, 5+ minutes apart, so that by the time the last person got their meal, the first persons pizza was already cold. It was very unprofessional. When the check came, we thought that it didn't seem right, so we added it up on our own. It turns out that when she calculated the total, she had added on an extra $20 (besides the already included gratuity) for her own pleasure. Also, she had charged us $6 per person as a corkage fee. When i asked when they started charging that fee she said, "I just started right now." I was utterly disgusted, not to mention the fact that she was dressed in rags with the makeup of a drag queen, we all just wanted to leave. After we left, one friend had left her purse behind, she went back to get it and as she was leaving the restaurant, the horrible waitress yelled after her, "F*** YOU!"
What a mess this place is, and i highly recommend AGAINST this place.
- Pros: BYOB
- Cons: Fluky waitresses, uncleanliness, slow
