The 11th Street Bar merges the great traditions of both the classic Irish pub and the New York City neighborhood bar. Located in the heart of the East Village this cozy pub is ideal for anything from a friendly drink after work to a long night out with friends. The 11th Street Bar hosts a variety of events such as live music (including the Sunday night Irish session), poetry readings, film screenings and sporting events (11th Street Bar is the home of the N.Y. Liverpool Supporters Club). Groups are also welcome and nicely accomodated here, whether it's a party of 12 sitting around the lazy-susan table in the back brick-walled room or a party of 60 enjoying the room all to themselves. …
Nothing seems to have ever changed at this Irish-feeling pub -- including the moist smell that clings to its walls like mist on the bogs of shannon. Somehow it adds to the familiar allure of the place, though.
A Great Place. Well, I really don't know what Jewel 1023's problem is, but this bar has always been an East Village retreat for me. (I have been going there for the last 5 years.) There's nothing shady about it, it doesn't cater to the loud-and-rowdy-barely-able-to-legally-drink-crowd and their Irish whisky selection is quite decent. What it is for me is a cozy, dog and kid friendly, laid back space with a lovely wood bar, brick walls, great bartenders and cool folks who have intellects and great stories. And there's always good music playing - live or stereo. Consider it Cheers East Village, with a bit more eccentricity.
CRIMINAL ENTERPRIZE.
The 11th St Bar is 'tucked away' -- BECAUSE IT DOESN'T BELONG THERE. The 11st Bar's 'cozy back room' -- where they have their live amplified music SHARES A COMMON WALL WITH A RESIDENCE.... they're not supposed to.
How'd they get there then? Well, Bob Perl of Tower Brokerage and Paul Hinkley (private engineer -- who is now if federal prison for 10 yrs) committed FELONY FRAUD in their Public Assembly Permit, and lied on their NYS Liquor application. They were found by two Judges from the Environmental Control Board to be "ILLEGALLY ZONED" and ORDERED IT CLOSED.
So, why are they still there?
Corruption of course. And the back room...the resident on the other side of that raw-brick wall has lived there for 22 yrs........ yet, the 11th St Bar, a veritable public nuisance did not even have a Cert. of Occupancy for 12 yrs.
Hmm.. how'd all this happen? Do you think the fact the DA Robert Morgenthau had his re-election fund raiser parties at the sister bar (the Ear Inn--directly used in the fraud), owned by the same owners had anything to do with it? Or the fact that the Community Board is compromised by having a Bronx DA (ALEXANDRA MILITANO) chairing 7 committees, including zoning and SLA...and saw the documents of fraud, AND KNOWS THE BAR WAS FOUND BY LAW TO BE ILLEGALLY ZONED-- TWICE! -- AND STILL -- never put the Bar on the Public Agenda for comment -- as they're supposed to before AUTOMATICALLY APPROVING RENEWAL OF THEIR LIQUOR LICENSE, as it has always done with this public nuisance.
OH - By the way -- the Office of Professional Discipline concurs -- and sent the municipal engineers of DOB for criminal investigation.... so what happened... well, the DOI is part of the CITY corruption..... not to mention that the NYSLA investigator John Watts, who, after his investigation said he was going to recommend revocation of the 11th St Bar's liquor license..... then became a deponent against the most directly impacted victim of the bar... yes.. that's right... the POLICE PROTECT THE 11TH ST BAR, AND HAVE CONSPIRED WITH THE BAR, AND WITH THE DA HAVE RETALIATED against the most impacted victim of this public nuisance
Any penny you spend in this public nuisance exploits the person on the other side of the back-room wall, who has already been harmed enough by this criminal enterprise.
This bar is criminal, and it is it by law, a public nuisance.

Fun Bar. I came here after an already long night of drinking and had an unusual but fun time here. At one point the bartender turned off the music and started playing a video invoving blow-up dolls that I can't really get into haha. Needless to say it made the crowd go wild. Cool place, i'll be back.
Great, Kick A** and Amazing! Please Stay Away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. This is the "Real Deal" of the the east village. GREAT! It is what it is! Please stay away! Please!!!!!!!!!!!!
great local bar. really good bartenders. a little too crowded on weekend nights. but, weeknights, it is a great place to grab a beer.
great hang. relaxed neighborhood bar, great tunes...and ya can bring your dog.
WORST SERVICE EVER. I've never encountered a more rude bartender. Last Saturday's bartender poured the wrong drinks and was obnoxious. Our group was treated terribly--too bad I love the bar but will never go back due to the awful service.
nice and comfy. Definitely try to sit in the back. Brick walls and comfy atomosphere. A pet friendly, good neighborhood bar - too bad my apt is not close by!
Fantastic, low-key place with good music. I had an excellent time here this past weekend, as I picked it for a birthday celebration. It was great because it had several tables in the back and good music--best of all, you could actually hear your conversations on a Saturday night!
