great place to see random live music. went on a saturday to see one of the 6 or so bands playing, stayed for 3. very laid back - great place to go and sit at a table and drink beers while listening to anything from blues to jazz to rock...
Interesting Open Mike
by metroplasm
I stopped in after work last night, to catch the open mike talent. The open mike/music is staged at the end of the bar and the acoustics are first rate. The bar and tables were almost full, yet the atmosphere was laid back and relaxed. I sat close to the end of the bar and listened to four vocalist/guitarists. One was a professional; the rest were younger and trying out their material for the first time. Although the talent was uneven it was a pleasure to be among people who supported eachother's efforts, and the audience was enthusiastic. I'd like to go back again to hear professional gigs in this space. The only drawback is the surrounding neighborhood - I question how safe it is to walk to or from this bar during the late hours.
- Pros: Good Acoustics, Very Musical, Laid-Back
- Cons: Iffy Neighborhood
