Eva Scrivo Salon

Expert services for hair, face and body in a lush and modern setting

  • Best of the Best, Cuts: Allure
  • Expert Guide, Color: NY Times
  • Best Downtown Salon: Town/Ctry

Eva Scrivo Salon is recognized by industry's leading publications as one of NYC's best for haircutting, coloring, eyebrows, facials, acupuncture, and waxing. Renowned hair cutter, colorist, makeup artist, and host of Beauty Talk on Sirius Satellite Radio, Eva Scrivo, personally coaches and inspires her staff to work with styles that range from classic to progressive. Our stylists are proficient with Eva's trademarked haircut, the Uncut, which combines geometric wet with meticulous dry cutting to create beautiful layers that work with one's natural texture, allowing hair to fall into place with or without a blow dryer. The colorists are expert with balayage and foils, and are trained to create perfectly shaded highlights and lowlights. Clients rave about the Yon-Ka facials and skillful waxing, while the acupuncture facials lift and tone for a more radiant and youthful skin.

Editorial Review for Eva Scrivo Salon – by Lynn Suhrie

In Short
As the West Village's bustling beauty spot, this full-service salon and its composed owner are the embodiment of good grooming. On the lofty ground floor, modish sophistication is the standard for precision cuts and color (including razor and dry cuts and French-technique balayage highlights). A narrow staircase leads down to a low-key candle-lit spa, where you can sink into a massage chair for a decadent pedicure.

2 Star Rating: Below Average

I went to get my hair highlighted and cut as a special treat for myself about a month ago and walked out spending almost $700, and not by choice. When I called to make my appt., I was given appts. with both Master Stylists (Scott and Alyson). I had never been before, so I had no preference in who I was to see. That was fine, but what I REALLY SHOULD HAVE ASKED is, how much this was going to cost me? Although my highlights are nice and I love my cut, I was just absolutely upset about how much these things cost me, and not to mention how I was strong-armed into buying products after it was all over. I know it's New York and all, but I was expecting to pay no more than $300, maybe $350 tops, for everything. I usually pay $135-$150 for everything at another salon. Will definitely not go back because it's just so outrageously expensive to have Scott and Alyson work on my hair. I cried when I got home, not because my hair looked nice, but at the thought of how much I had just spent. I'm giving it 2 stars as an average (4 stars for Scott and Alyson and no stars for price).

Pros: Friendly Staff

Cons: Outrageously Crazy Expensive

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

I mistakenly posted this under the Bond Street location.... so I reposted it here. I've been at customer at Eva Scrivo for over a year now. I initially went to see Eva, the owner, for a color correction due to a horrible dye job at my previous salon and thought it would be a one time splurge to get myself back on track with a good color. But, Eva did such a good job with my color and cut that I'm now hooked on her salon's services. They are a little on the expensive side, but the quality is top notch -- hence why I've gone back ever since. While there are many talented stylists there, lately I've been seeing Hiro and he does a wonderful job with cuts! He takes a lot of time going over what would look good on you before he starts cutting, and is really patient and explains what he's doing throughout the cut (I'm very particular and do ask questions so I like that he doesn't take offense at this!) I also like that when he's blowing your hair dry, he shows you how to do it so you can achieve the same look at home. He's really an excellent addition to the salon. I've never written a review before, but my last cut was so great that I had to post. I highly recommend this salon to anyone who is bored with their current style and needs a change!

Pros: talented staff, expertise, range of services

Cons: none really....
