Dude, Where's My Stylists?. Where are Alyson and Scott? I called to make an appointment and they informed me that Alyson and Scott are no longer there but refuse to tell me where they are. Of course they recommended "amazing" people but I asked to speak with the owner and they still won't tell me where they are. Something is sketchy as the Eva Scrivo salon and I'm not going to trust anyone else with my curly red hair.
A.C. - superb stylist, the best cut ever.
A.C. is terrific. I came to A.C. with a very boring, blah haircut. During our consultation, he listented to me very carefully and offered some great advice. He is extremely meticulous, very patient, and has a great eye. End result, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE my hair. Bonus, he is a great stylist too. Usually when I leave a salon, my hair is poofy and un-flattering and I go home immediately to wash it. He styled my hair and it looked awesome - totally natural and flatterring, I looked HOT!
thanks AC, you are awesome!!
the BEST haircut. My experience was fabulous! I had been neglecting my hair for some time and needed a color and style makeover. Luckily, someone recommended Eva Scrivo Salon to me. Antonio Cantillano cut and styled my hair and did an amazing job! i recommend that everyone take a trip to this salon and have the same great expeirence as i did. I promise it's worth it!
Unhappy but hopeful.
I visited the Eva Scrivo salon for the first time a few weeks ago. The salon is beautiful and I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist. I only waited a few minutes before I my stylist was ready to see me (very rare occurrence for a NY salon).
I explained to the stylist the basic idea of the style I was looking for - keep most of the length and keep it low maintenence. I was a bit surprised she was using the razor on my hair, as it is already fine - but when she was done, it seemed OK. I liked (but didn't love) the cut but, like most cuts, you get a true feel for them for a day or two when you wash and style yourself.
Unfortunately, when I made my first attempt drying and styling my new hair cut, I was horrified by the result! My ends were frizzy and stringy. My hair was weighed down by all the products the stylist insisted I needed and I couldn't get it to look even close to the style that I had when I left the salon that day.
I was leaving to go out of town the next day and wound up going to the salon in the hotel to fix the cut. For the amount of money I spent on the cut and then the products, you can imagine my disappointment.
Now that I am back in town, I am going to go back when this cut grows out. I have heard too many great things about the salon to not at least give it a second shot. But this time, I think I will see a different stylist.
I'll post again and let you know how trip #2 goes!
Thank You Eva.
I recently moved out of state after being a client at Eva Scrivo Salon for 4 years. I often fondly think about the salon, it is one of the things about NY that I miss most. There simply aren't any salons like this one anywhere else, and I have sadly realized this ten times over since having moved. I lived only a couple blocks away, and the salon had become like my home away from home. It was not only a place where I knew that I'd get the most beautiful hair and wonderful facials, but where I felt that everyone from the receptionist and assistant to Eva herself, really cared about me and my experience there. If I was having a bad day, I'd forget about my problems while at the salon and would feel and look like a new person upon leaving. I really did not expect to find a place quite like this one in my new home town (even though I'm still in a fairly cosmopolitan place), but I did not fully appreciate how spoiled I had become because it's been one disappointment after another since then. Even though Eva was kind enough to give me my color formula, my highlights have not been the same since having it done in new salons. I guess there's more to it than just chemistry. I have actually resisted getting my haircut for six months now, as that is one thing that I won't let anyone else do! I'll be coming back to NY soon just for my cut (and hopefully to get my color back to where it was). Maybe I'll also visit some friends while there :)
Thank you Eva for everything. I miss you and everyone at your salon, and I can't wait to see you in about a month!
A small suggestion for prospective clients. I love eva scrivo salon and I high recommend this place, but I was a little disappointed during my 4th visit. My hairstylist(s) usually spend a lot of time listening to what I want, but this time, she was busy with other clients and didn't spend much on my hair cut. My bangs were cut wrong, and when I told her that that wasnt what I wanted, she made a face and said, the way I wanted my bangs wouldnt work with the hairstyle. It was partially my fault for letting her know at the end, but I wish she could have explained it nicer. I dont want to disclose my hairstylist's name because she is an amazing hair stylist, and I have nothing against her...but a little suggestion for those who are deciding whether to go to this salon: bring a picture or two to show what exactly you want. Regardless of my experience during the 4th visit, I would still go back there :)
Tres chic and best staffed salon-ANTONIO GONZALES is a creative genius and ALLY-best esthetician!!!. Hands down best salon i've ever been to... i work in fashion and am constantly being judged by my appearance. i have never received as many compliments on my hair EVER! Antonio can take me from blonde to red to black and back again... he's amazing. i've referred several friends who all agree he is the most amazingly talented stylist!! I can't say enough good things about him personally and professionally. The staff is amazing from Dayna at the desk to Eva herself. Ally is an incredible esthetician and truly is one of the most soathing individuals i've met (she could shed years of stress away in a single treatment)! I would highly recommend for any service!
Very Attentive. I had a lovely experience at Eva Scrivo Salon. The staff is very attentive and Eva, who cut my hair, is extremely professional. She cares that her salon is run properly and that her customers are satisfied with their service . . . . a rarity in a city that often thinks of the phrase "customer satisfaction" as a level of service that only VIPs are entitled to receive.
Love this salon!. I've lived in the West Village for years and have gone uptown for my hair until somewhat recently discovering Eva Scrivo Salon. I've never been so happy with my cut and color, and compared to what I was paying uptown, the prices here are actually very reasonable for a salon of this caliber. I especially love that blowouts are included with every color. I used to pay an additional $60 or more for the blowout after spending $400+ for highlights, or leave with wet hair, not really seeing how the color came out until I got home. Including a blowout in the price of color is a wonderful touch of customer service, and something that every salon should do! It's not surprising that customer service at Eva Scrivo is fantastic, very nice and friendly staff who try very hard to accomodate your schedule and take wonderful care of you at the salon. So glad that this level of work and service has been brought to the West Village!
Not So Hot.
Recently, I had my hair highlighted at this salon for the first time, however, I get my hair blown-out here. I was always happy with their work. But with the highlights, I was disappointed with the result. I was told that the "bailaige" highlights were superior to the regular tinfoil highlights, and decided to have that done. Two weeks later, the color seemed to fade, and I had dark roots. I never had that issue before with highlights over the years. So, $320 bucks later (not including the tip) and 2 weeks later, I had massive roots.
On the upside, everyone at the salon is very nice and friendly- I must stress this. I'd go back for blowouts even though I had a lousy experience with hair-color.
