Don't go this place it's totally changed. I used to go to this place, but when the new old guy manny came he ruined the place, he charges the money first, doesn't let you talk and he curses a lot, he also treats you bad.
Worth the $. I have always had a wonderful experience a Wilfred's and I have asked Manny to "remake" many of my suit pants. It is always a pleasurable experience. I have to admit the prices are on the expensive side, but I always find it's worth the money.
Always a great experience for me.
I was very surprised to see all the bad reviews here. I have consistently received great service at Wilfred's. My clothing is always ready on time and I have never been dissatisfied with their work. Whenever I go shopping, my next stop is Wilfred's to have pants shortened (the price of being short...). I have also had the sleeves shortened on suit jackets and oxfords and I have had the waist taken in for both a pair of jeans and a blazer.
I can always trust Manny for honest advice on whether something needs to be altered. Frequently his response is to leave it as is. Even though Wilfred's closed their East Village location that was much closer to my apartment, I couldn't dream of not trekking all the way up to 23rd street. I enthusiastically recommend Wilfred's.
Best craftsmanship - Best service!! these guys know what they are doing.
These guys are magicians!! And they are super sweet.
I bought in a dream wedding dress that I had found at a sample sale to be taken in by 31/2 sizes!! The dress had boning and the fabric was a very delicate silk organza, talk about a challenge. I brought in my wedding dress to RAMON after a highly acclaimed tailor shop that charged more than twice as much told me that they could not guarantee to get all of natural creases that would form at the waste. Ramon didn?t waste any time chit chatting, simply pointed me to the fitting rooms, brought me to the mirror and began putting pins in and making marks. He simply said I know what has to be done and when do you need it by. The result was outstanding, as if it had been made for me. The fit was so good that I didn?t even have to wear a bra and being a C cup, that for me, is unheard of. In addition he had the patience of a saint accommodating to my requests in an honest way and did not let me take it home until he felt it was perfect. The other people at the shop were also very accommodating.
I will keep going to Wilfred?s faithfully, as I have found finally the secret to making my clothes fit phenomenally.
Ruined. The first time I went to Wilfred's, they left a blue pen mark on the lapel of a beige jacket. I thought it was a one time mistake, so I gave them another chance. I brought in a pair of pants, but when I got them back, they had a hole in them. And it still didn't fit!
Thank you Wilred's tailoring you saved the day!. I totally recommend Wilfred's tailoring. They can do it all for Suits to Pants and dresses, they are wonderful people. I took my 3 dresses that need alterations and needed them within a week because i was going on vacation and i didnt think they would be able to do it . Save your money take your clothing to the local dry cleaner.. Save your money take your clothing to the local dry cleaner. I brought two pairs of jeans in on Wednesday afternoon. I was told that they would be ready on Saturday by noon. Called Saturday to confirm that the alterations were complete. The tailor said that they were ready. I Went down to Wilfred's. They were not ready. He said sorry that he had told me that the jeans had been altered but he was busy. Thanks because I really enjoy taking time off work to for someone else's busy schedule. On the positive side he said he would have them delivered. He did so. After the delivery I looked at the hem on the jeans. Both pairs looked as if though they had been sewn by a 4th grade Home Economics student. The stitch was too wide and went up and down like a wave across the bottom of the jeans. One pair had the wrong color stitch. I brought them back and asked for both the hems to be fixed. Another 45 minutes of work lost. While I was there two other customers were complaining. One needed his clothes and made sure they knew he needed them now. The other complained of the wait to get fitted. Eventually the tailor came out with both pair of jeans. He had fixed the pair with the wrong color hem. They looked fine. He preceded to pretend, thinking that I would not notice, that the other hem had been fixed. They had not. I asked him, he admitted they were not and he said he would fix them. Enough time wasted. $36 dollars plus more than an hour of work down the drain. The dry cleaner at the foot of my stairs could have done a better job for 1/3 of the price. Trust me skip this place.
