Bad Pint So Why Bother?. Seven dollar ice-cold (too cold) pint of Guinness, and an American pint (16 oz) to boot, not the imperial (20 oz.) pint. When this was pointed out in good humor to the barman, the manager muttered, "everybody's a mathematician," and then continued his peroration about Bernie Madoff. Is this a credit suisse joint? In the neighborhood, a warmer pint can be had that is 25% fuller, and cost (14%) less (i.e., six bucks for an imperial pint). So good-bye Fitzgerald's.
Great Irish Pub!. I just had the best time with the friendly bar staff and the baseball game. The staff was cheerful, knowledgeable, and attentive. The prices are standard for the neighborhood- inexpensive for manhattan. The decor is highlighted with the etched glass scenes of the quiet man film, and the bar is clean. The Fitzburgers are huge - one of the best bacon cheeseburgers in New York.
very disappointing. Perhaps Tom the famous bartender was having an off-night, but all I heard him do was complain about the customers. Well, it may be the best craic in the city, but I can't see how that justifies charging $7 for an ice-cold pint of Guinness. Given all the options in the neighborhood, I certainly cannot imagine why I'd ever go back.
Fitzgerald's Pub...best Irish pub ever:0). Great Irish pub. All the bartenders are friendly and funny. They sure know how to mix their drinks. Cleanest pub you'll ever see. Cleanest bathrooms of any bar, I've seen! Darts are a great way to make friends there. It's kind of like Cheers, you have your regulars and all the others who come in and enjoy the company and atmosphere of the pub. Definately a place to check out...it becomes addicting!
Best bar man in NYC. Tom, the resident bar man, although a native Yank not an Irishman provides the best Craic in town and is always quick to serve and remembers everyone by name and drink. This is a true 'local' pub in a bustling city. Highly recommended for a quiet drink after work, a few pints with your mates or even on your own.
User review by tlynnj24. one of my favorite bars in the nieghborhood after i visited. this bar has real genuine irish bartenders who do a real good job. very lively group of workers. i didnt try the food, but the drinks were wonderful. ask frank to make you his specialty drink (for the non beer drinkers). get ready for a fun game of darts and if its slow, you might even get a card game in with a bartender. good times here!!
Fitz's Rocks. Great place to go with friends to sit down and have a Guiness. Reasonable happy hour specials & the food is GREAT. Grilled Chichen sandwich, Burgers, fries, and especially the French onion soup ROCK. Plus Kevin and the other bartenders will always treat you right.
A modest Irish bar with darts and drinks a-plenty..
The Scene
With images from John Wayne's "The Quiet Man" etched in glass behind the bar, and groups of dart-playing regulars more than willing to teach hapless newbies the fundamentals of the game, this pub is a warm and inviting place to quaff a pint or two after work. Though the service is occasionally slow, you'll be happy to linger while your Guinness settles. Half the fun of the place is the jolly crowd it attracts.
The Draw
The jukebox is packed with classic rock, six television sets tune into a variety of sports, and an inordinately large number of bar stools accommodate rumps in a room only slightly larger than a two-by-four. Come early, come late, come as you are--it's a spot you'll want to come back to.
Slainte to Fitzgeralds!. Totally my home away from home! Great. great pub food whipped up my fabulous chefs Jorge Sr. and Jorge Jr.; nice selection of beers; good happy hour; quirky, interesting folks; and always a smile on tap from owners Denis and Kevin Fitzgerald. Soon it'll be your own personal Cheers, too!
A real "pub". It's quite hard in New York to find a good proper "pub", but this one certainly fits the mould. Cracking atmosphere, chatty staff, and regular happy hours all make this a great pub to have a few drinks in. The jukebox was a little loud though if you want a quiet drink.
