Rent Direct is terrible

My boyfriend and I signed up for Rent Direct because we did not want to go through a broker. We had awful luck. We looked at a ton of listings and only found 2 apartments we were interested in that were in Manhattan in our price range (although when we spoke with a representative they said there were around 200).

We only found 2 we were interested in and it turns out the listings were wrong. One was listed for the wrong price (it was listed for about twice the real price) and another had a broker fee. What a waste of time!! We called to complain but were told we could only get a refund (they advertise that they are satisfaction guaranteed) if we sent in a copy of the lease.

We did send in a copy, but didn't get a full refund. We paid about $120 and only got $84 back. I called to complain and they said $15 was administrative costs and the rest were taxes.

Do not waste your money or time on rent direct! A lot of the listings were on craigslist. Looking for an apartment is VERY frustrating but Rent Direct will make it an even worse experience.

Do NOT use Rent Direct!!

Don't even go to their web site becouse as soon as you give them your email or your phone number you get in trouble. They will keep calling you and promise you anything you want as soon as you PAY. But after you pay you get a list of appartment collected from craiglist or other open sources. In the second day I asked for refund they said there is no refund. You will lose your money, your time and your nerves. THESE GUYS ARE LIERS!
