CLIPBOARDS DO NOT MAKE YOU COOL. For my 29th birthday I invited about 30 people (10 from out of town) to join me at Slate. I spoke to the manager a few days before to confirm it wouldn't be a problem to do cash bar, since I didn't want to lay out $600 for open bar. He said no problem, be there before 12pm so we could get a nice space to hang out. I also asked him about dress code, which he informed me was casual. I specificlly asked about Timberland boots and sneaker for the guys, knowing the weather was going to be a little messy. Was told no problem! I showed up with about half the party by 11pm and was denied entry at the door by some bitch holding a clipboard. She had a nasty attitude, walked away from me while I was explaining the situation and then refused to get a manager when I asked for one. I would NEVER recommend this place!!! They ruined my night and lost out on a lot of money.

Need A New Door Man. I have been to Slate many times and always had a good time but that all changed this past Friday. I went with a group of friends and the doorman was rude from the moment we walked up to the door. He claimed that for a party of ten or more we needed to do bottle service but that was NOT what the event planner for the venue said when I spoke to her on three separate occasions. However, I don't have a problem if this was the rule but it's all about how you speak to people. He was rude and condescending and turned off all the people I was with. They have all said they will never go back to Slate.

Birthday Event. It was my birthday a couple weeks back, and I was looking for a place to take my friends that was different from our normal spots, had great music, and was not too clubby. Slate was the perfect choice. There was plenty of space to lounge and relax, reasonably priced specialty drinks, a bumpin dance floor, and we all played ping pong or pool at some point.

I had a group of around 15 people, and a friend recommended I book my party through BirthdayBottleService. com. Good idea. They got my entire group in with no line, no cover AND a private table with bottle service for absolutely no charge!

Highly recommend both Slate and BirthdayBottleService

Great Happy Hour!. I went here after work two Friday's ago with my colleagues from work. Slate was a very nice change of scenary from the normal happy hour routine.

We were a group of 16 and I planned ahead through AccessGotham. com and they had our firm name on the list at the door.

There was plenty of room to sit back, relax and most of us played ping bong and pool! It was a blast and we all can't wait to go back again! Thank you

Cool Scene. I went to Slate last weekend as part of my weekend bday celebration. My friends and I were looking for something laid back and not clubby. I had a friend recommend to reach out to AccessGotham to set something up. They get me and a large group of friends in for free, and even got us free drink tickets!

The place was great and everyone enjoyed playing pool and lounging out on the sofas. The music was really good too! I definitely will be going back soon.

Horrible Bday experience, do not book here. They did not honor bday dinner reservations for 18 people, instead put us in the lounge room downstairs and expected 18 of us to sit on a space thats for 6 people. Also, dont believe in the free complimentary bottle service for a certain amount of guests or anything they promise. I did not see anything, I was told that for my inconvenience that they would give me a bottle and then they later retracted it, good job. If it wasnt for my fiance's bday and all of our guests, I would have either left or had a miserable time.

My recommendation is do NOT plan your bday party here, they are definitely not trust worthy and do not honor anything they say. I think its a trap, just to get your party in there. If they get a bigger party and more $, they will bump you and wouldnt think twice. The place is actually nice and thats too bad that they have horrible, money hungry management running it. They obviously do not care about their reputation either.
