What Ever Happened to Customer Service? Customer service is hard to come by these days. So much so that advertising agencies are coming up with ad campaigns that emphasize the effective customer service a business provides. Instead of it being an expected part of everyday business dealings, quality customer service has become a commodity. I know I'm not the only one who finds that appalling.
Let's talk about NY Comedy Club. They are a MONEY HUNGRY business that has no regards to their customers. This is a spot that you must ABSOLUTELY AVOID! Save your money and go elsewhere to have a good time, because it is not worth the headache and bad experience. The comedians are not up to par and they mix in some wanna be comedians (very sad).
The only reason we went to NEW YORK COMEDY CLUB was the fact that we were lured by a living social deal. You buy one voucher, it gets you 2 admission to the club plus 1 free drink each. We purchased 2 vouchers, good for 4 people. Due to the fact that it was the worse location to find parking. I announced to the front attendant that we were waiting for the person who holds our vouchers and that person is still trying to find parking. We sat down and waited since it was past the 8:00 pm showtime. The attendant in the front did not communicate that we had a voucher to the waiter. We were told to order 2 drinks per person. When the bill came, we took out the voucher so that we can redeem. The waiter said the club cannot honor because we did not show the voucher prior to ordering the drinks. The waiter directed us to speak to the manager. As we approached the manager, his only comment was repeatedly "You must show your voucher prior to ordering the drinks". He was rude, disrespectful and did not care what we had to say. The waiter saw the unsettled agreement that he just took the bill and honored the voucher for us. What kind of business allows the waiter to overturn the manager's decision. We left and tipped the waiter another $10 on top of the 18% already charged on the bill.
The businesses who don't emphasize quality customer service are only harming themselves in the long run, as word of mouth quickly spreads and other potential customers go somewhere else to get the quality service they expect and deserve. How did we ever get to a point that customer service was no longer part of the deal, but became an "extra" that we are never guaranteed, no matter what we pay? Today's businesses need to get a clue and realize that they only way they can succeed is to treat their customers like kings and queens.
Had some great laughs – I came here on a Thursday night and there were about 8 comics. Truthfully, I had a really good time. I thought the performers were funny and I cracked up a bunch. The only downside would be that the server spilled my white wine on my leather jacket, and he also miscalculated the bill and we ended up overpaying for our not-so-cheap drinks. Just check your bill to make sure everything's correct. Other than that, it's just $15 to get in plus a 2 drink min. and it's a fun time.
Great Laughs!!! – We had a great time. The comedians were super funny.
This place is the perfect size, very intimate. I would definitely go back for more laughs at New York Comedy Club.
We bought discount tickets online at bestcomedytickets . com, and we also ate at a great little Turkish restaurant nearby.
Funny people, bad service! – Well, love comedy! We go to comedy clubs in the city on a regular basis.
We went on a Sat eve. for the early show. Guys were really funny, especially the host. really good comedy. You need to pay $15 cover and 2 more drinks, that's cool, but you have to decide from the start what to drink in both rounds. No food, which is cool too. All in all a good experience, until...
Bill arrived, it was insanely high! They charge you 20% tip on top of everything and a rounded up tax. We gave the waitress exact change (I mean, to tip on top of a 20% charge? Its not like she was nice in any way) and the waitress took the money, counted it, and returned it with $5 less, claiming we "forgot to put it".
I know it sounds crazy! But, since we knew we put the $5 on top, plus we SAW her taking it, putting it in the pocket and returning the money! And, we missed the headliner, bc of this issue!
BAD BAD experience!!!
Sorry for those comedians, they were funny!
David The Voice Stein was amazing – Loved the show. David The Voice stein was amazing. The other comedians were great as well but I cannot recall there names. Will come back
The worst comedy club experience I have ever been to – Being a local Hells Kitchener, thought I would try out our local comedy club. What did we have to lose right? Please keep in mind that I have been to at least 10 comedy clubs in the city for reference
Here is a list of my experience:
Noise: Seemed like an out of control high school cafeteria. Noisy, rude, no control. Could barely hear the comedians. People seemed disinterested. Accoustics were terrible. Employees and people coming in and out at will. No control.
Crowd: Seemed to cater towards tourists and./or underage people.
Comedians: Only stayed for half of the show but they seemed terrible. Almost like an open mike night.
Drinks: The rum and coke and wine we had were so bad -- we could not drink them. Supposedly they don't have a full liquor license -- who knows.
Management: Supposedly the manager was in Israel and that's why it was chaotic. Are you kidding me? They gave us free tickets. Do you want them? For $40+ dollars, for just drinks -- you can have them.
I am not usually this negative but wanted to protect future patrons from this place. If you are not an underage person or tourist, it might be the worst experiece ever. It was so bad -- we had to walk out.
Terrible Service, Drinks a Rip Off! – Well. The comedy was okay, for the most part, but the service was horrendous! The rude wait staff herded us in, restricted us from sitting in certain places, they were very curt when we asked when we could go in the theater and be seated. The cover was $15 per person, which is fine, gotta support comedians, but then there was a two drink minimum. A cranberry juice costs 4 bucks each (the cheapest thing on the menu).
Then during the last act the staff stood right in front of us as we were watching the comedian, told us to pay our check immediately, with cash, they arrogantly rushed us while we were trying to enjoy the last act. Then they HAD THE NERVE TO INCLUDE AN 18% GRATUITY on such terrible service and overpriced drink. There are better places to spend a buck for laughs, like one of the improv theaters (UCB, Magnet, PIT, etc).
late night great laffs! – first of all i was there on 03/08/08 saturday night late show and it was amazing for a small crowd and the comics rocked as if their was 200 people there! its the best late night show out there i've to alot and it was good! montel in the front was a great aidience member with that comic i've seen before ..seymour"..who's by the way the funniest guy i've seen on stage in a while a+++ they had us crying so hard you forgot it was that late at night..i would tell everybody to go see the late night show at ny comedy club starring seymour" drinks were on point..we laughed out loud a must for new yorkers and a big must for tourist coming in for some fast tempo comedy late at night! thanks comics we'll be back!!!!
Great Show, Great Deal, Amazing B-Day – It was my 18th bday and we took a limo to the club for the 12am show. we got there a little early so the previous show was still going on and they put our group of 7 in the waiting room we checked in with our reservations (remember tickets are 1/2 price online $6 each) the show started a little late but whatever it was already midnight. small place but relaxed. we had about a 20 person audience and a 9 comedian lineup YES 9 COMEDIANS all were hilarious but 1but his act was short. Great host and all the comics kept the entire audience involved (poor ppl on their 1st date if you were them at the 3/8/08 midnight show and the comics called the guy montel i hope everything was ok) but all around it was a great night nearly non-stop laughs. theres a 2 drink minimum but hey laughing gets u thirsty. for 7 of us the tickets were $42 and the 2 drinks each came out to $72 so about $16 a person it was a great night will never forget. i highly recommend to anyone.
WOW! – So the comics were horrible? they each had about 3 minutes of material the rest of the time they tried (unsuccessfully) to riff off the audience. Hilarious jokes like ?I would f**k you??.are you kidding me?! NOT FUNNY not even clever. But that?s not the worst part. We ordered 6 drinks and had a bar tab of $50!!! The drinks came in tiny plastic cups and were watered down.
