In a word... OVERRATED. Absolutely awful! Burnt goods, some bad tasting (stale) and rude service. Never going back and I don't recommend anyone else to.

Do not go into the Lafayette Bakery in Greenwich Village. The Baker and the evil air wave maker (Limbaugh) are two of a kind: in the business of hurting people, making fun of people and spreading evil. The result of an unhappy person. There is no place for that kind of behavior in today's world. It is simple: Do not go into the bakery. Do not listen to the Limbaugh show. Better yet; ignore them both. They will soon self destruct.

great cookies, great sense of humor, great bakery. All these people who have nothing else to do but make a big deal about nothing need to get a life!!!!! I can't wait until this place re-opens. I will be there everyday to show my support. Having the ability to make these cookies is one of the freedoms that makes this country so great. When the country is in shambles which is where it is headed, these cookies may make a come back. Instead of disturbing the neighborhood these people need to go back to theirs and leave the Lafayette Bakery alone. Long live Lafayette Bakery!!!!!

Boycott this DUMP. The owner my whine that he is the victim of some "PC Thought Police". That simply is not the case. Racists are certainly entitled to their opinion no matter how vile. What they for get is their customers are also entitled to their opinion, which, as it turns out, is not to go to this awful, awful place.

Lighten Up - This is New York after all. Chill out. A little anti-nigger humour cant hurt. Obama is a loser who will ruin our great country. The cookies taste great!!

Skip this one at all costs.. Pastries should be made with love, these are made with hate by a not very bright baker. Don't believe me? Go to youtube and look this place up then decide for yourself. There are so many incredible bakeries and pattiseries in the city. Skip this one at all costs.

The bake goods are mediocre but the owner is an IDIOT. The country is in a recession, and some bakeries are not financial well. Of course some idiot is going to come up with a gimmick to stay out of the red.

Coconut cake to die for!. If I was on death row I'd want their coconut cake as my last meal. It's a major effort for me not to eat something from here every day. In fact, I even had it as my wedding cake. When my parents visit from Ohio the bakery is a must visit stop for delicious breakfast pastries. They do take the month of August off for vacation so make sure you plan around that.
