One of the best bridal stores in NY. I came for a weekend dress shopping to NY, feeling frustrated with the little choice from DC. Thus I managed to go to 10 shops and try about 60 dresses. I am ranking B&B the highest of all the stores that I visited based on the following criteria:

1. was the easiest place to make an appointment with.

2. whenever I called somebody picked up the phone.

3. The saloon is very nice, with plenty of sunlight, roomy, in the same time comfortable.

4. The service was impeccable, even when I was tiring for them, trying maybe too many dresses.

5. The selection is one of the best.

6. Quality price ratio is fair if one compares it to other stores.

7. I would rank their lace dresses much higher than those of other more famous designers.

8. They had a big price range.

I am also grateful to them for coming back to the store after closing it, to allow my friend to see 2 dresses that I liked.

I did not buy yet anything, still undecided between several dresses - more a question of looks that I would like to have that are very opposite...

However I wanted to write already a review, since I almost never do...

Overall, it was one of the best experiences ever.

Best Wedding Experience EVER. I found out about Birnbaum & Bullock from a Bridal magazine. It was the third and last place I went. The moment you enter the studio you feel at ease. Robert and Steven have an amazing selection of dresses at every price point. Some modern, some romantic, and everything perfectly made. I knew immediately I would find my dress here. It's such a special and refreshing experience to try on dresses with the designers. Robert brought out some fabulous dresses for me and I fell in love with two immediately. I couldn't decide between them so I ended up getting both, one in a mini so I could wear it to my rehearsal dinner! And sure enough, a few months later, my Mom ended up choosing one of Robert's mother of the bride dresses. Throughout both my fitting process and my Mom's, Robert and Steven went above and beyond. Our dresses fit perfectly and the wedding was a huge success. I would recommend Steven and Robert to everyone. There is something for everyone here, and they made choosing and fitting my dress(es) one of my favorite parts of the wedding experience. I will truly miss my trips to the studio and cannot say enough good things about Robert and Steven. You're missing out on an amazing experience if you don't visit their studio.

New York's Best Bridal Salon!. OMG, I don't have enough good words to say about Robert Bullock. He's absolutely fantastic. This will take a while so bear with me. My sister and I went to see Robert in his stunning gallery on a rainy NY afternoon. I was so weary of wedding-gown salespeople at that point that meeting Robert was a breath of fresh air. He took one look at me and immediately brought out 5 stunning dresses from his collection. I didn't know which one to choose from - they all looked fantastic. Oh, did I mention, I was the only bride in his salon??! I know, surprising. It turns out, that's how they conduct business. They make a bride feel special :)



Getting one on one attention from Robert was amazing. Finding out that I was dealing with THE DESIGNER himself was even more amazing.

Back to my dresses: I tried on all five of them - with jewelry, veil & shoes specifically chosen from Robert to match my shape and figure. Well, when my sister saw me come out she had no words. Neither did I - I was in love all over again (with my dress this time). It took us a while to decide between the five dresses, and when Robert mentioned that the first one I tried on was from his never-seen-before Fall 2010 collection, I choked. This one of a kind dress had never been seen before, in any galleries, any magazines, any runways. I was the first one wearing it that day. Well that was it - we shook hands (kissed on the cheek actually) and off I went confident that I had made the best decision of my life.

My mom, sister and I came back 5 months later to try on the dress again - it looked stunning. Everyone at the wedding kept telling me how beautiful I looked ( I know, guests are supposed to do that) but I could tell that this was genuine :)

Robert you made my special day a dream come true!

Terrific experience, highest recommendation!. My daughter was married this past July and chose one of Birnbaum and Bullock's magnificent gowns for her wedding dress. The whole experience from beginning to end was a pure delight and such a marked contrast to so many of the other wedding gown salons (we had been everywhere). First, the wedding gown design was beautiful and perfectly proportioned. Both Steven Birnbaum and Robert Bullock are wonderful, gracious, charming and calm individuals. They are extradinarily talented designers and provide the most personalized care and attention to every detail. They are extremely responsible and reliable and everything worked like clockwork- no surprises. They are not satisfied unless the bride is fully satisfied. We looked forward to each fitting, not just because we could see our daughter in her beautiful gown, but also because we so enjoyed talking to and spending time with Steven and Robert. In the end the dress was perfectly fitted and gorgeous! The wedding gown drew so many compliments from our guests. We recommend Birnbaum and Bullock with the highest accolades. If you choose them you will not be sorry and you will be in the best of hands. They are superbly talented experts and a pleasure in every way! We could not have been more satisfied with our whole experience there.

Amazing Designers, Amazing People. I went to Birnbaum & Bullock after being unimpressed with at least five other bridal salons in Manhattan. I wanted a fresh, modern gown - something I've never seen before - but I couldn't fathom spending a small fortune on a gown. I also did not want to be pushed into making a decision this big on the spot, which I had experienced at some of the larger salons in the city.

Robert Bullock, one of the nicest and talented men I've met, found the perfect dress for me, just by really listening to me and, as a designer, knowing what would work on my figure. Robert Bullock worked with me personally every step of the way, from every fitting, alteration and customization I asked him to make. No request was too large. He made sure the dress fit me perfectly, everywhere. His attention to detail is stunning. He takes his time and does it right.

On my wedding day, I was told by my wedding officiant that my dress was probably the nicest wedding dress she had ever seen. One of my friends asked me if the dress was Vera Wang and assumed it was the price of a small car. Her mouth dropped when I told her the price. The dresses were extremely reasonably priced for the suberb quality and the personal attention that came with them. To work personally with a Manhattan designer is rare and every woman should have that experience when purchasing a wedding dress.

Every Bride Should Experience Birnbaum & Bullock!!!. Even before I got engaged, I had an idea of what I wanted to wear for my wedding. I didn't know much outside of the world of big designer gowns. When I got engaged and began thinking about my search for the perfect dress, I read reviews about Birnbaum & Bullock and thought it sounded so different from the experiences I had heard about from friends and seen on "Say Yes to the Dress" that I decided to make an appointment there. I am so glad that I did!

From the moment Robert Bullock introduced himself to me in his beautiful bridal studio, I knew I made a good decision in coming here. I was shopping with my mom, future mother in law, maid of honor, and two of my bridesmaids. They were all so impressed with the space right away!

I had such a great experience from start to finish. Robert asked me all the right questions and pulled dresses that really flattered my figure. I loved every dress that Robert put me in but when I put on "the one" I knew it, Robert knew it, and my shopping entourage knew it. Robert kept mentioning how I smiled the whole time I was in that dress. I felt like I was the only bride in the world when I was there working one-on-one with Robert.

I had told Robert my budget in the beginning and when I had decided on my dress and he told me that it was half of my budget, I was so happy that I was truly listened to. I think Birnbaum & Bullock is an experience every bride deserves. I would highly recommend making a stop there on your search for the perfect dress!

Perfect Dress! Thank you!. Birnbaum & Bullock were by far my favorite wedding vendor and exceeded my expectations in every way. Like other reviewers, I bought my dress at one of their sample sales and it was the first dress I tried on. It is a beautiful silk dress with a lace overlay in a classic yet modern (not old fashioned) style. When I bought my dress, I weighed 30 pounds more than when I was actually fitted (over a year later) but Steven worked miracles with the dress. It was taken apart and at each fitting, Steven worked one layer at a time (first the silk slip, then the lace overlay, then the cap sleeves, etc.). My favorite part of the Birnbaum & Bullock experience was being fitted directly by the dress designers and receiving their advice and personal attention -- even though the dress had been a sample and I didn't pay what many others might pay for a designer dress. At the fittings, I was the only person there and it was a wonderfully, unstressful experience. My dress came out amazing and I couldn't have been happier. I feel very lucky to live in NYC and have access to such amazing boutique designers.

Finally, Steven even went out of his way to help me fix my headpiece (even though I did not buy it at B&B) which kept slipping off my head before he fixed it! Thank you!!!

Robert Bullock - You are SO Fabulous!!!. I was at the point of pulling my hair out when I stumbled upon the Birhbaum & Bullock salon on W25th ... my guardian angel must have been guiding me there!!! I had visited all of NYC's best (or so they say) bridal salons and I was totally fed up with pushy sales people and mediocre dresses! My whole experience with Robert Bullock and the team was nothing short of wonderful. From the moment I made my first appointment to the moment I walked away with my dress I was treated like royalty and really made to feel very special! Unfortunately, there was a small hiccup with my dress when I arrived for my first fitting ... (these things do happen to the best of us!) However, before any panic could even set in, Robert took complete control and the issue was resolved quickly and succesfully. I had my brand new dress in a matter of days and I could not be happier with the outcome. I am testiment to the fact that even if the worst happens, you will be in safe hands! It is truly rare to find this level of customer service in this city and I applaud the efforts and dedication of Robert and Steven for keeping their "bridal experience" in a class of it's own! The gowns are magnificent and you can definately find a gem, no matter what your budget might be. I highly recommend this salon and I will certainly be introducing my friends and any future brides that I meet to the Birnbaum & Bullock team! Thank you Robert!!! You are SO Fabulous!!!

petite princess. Kleinfelds was my first stop and they treated me like dirt. When I heard about the B&B sample sale, I for sure thought they would be worse! My sister forced me to go and I went there ready for a fight. To my surprise, both Steven & Robert along with their support staff treated me with such professionalism and class. The studio itself feels so glamorous without being stuffy. After trying several dresses, Robert hand picked a dress he thought would be best for me. I am 5ft, 100lbs at a sample sale where everything was meant for a larger/taller crowd. Within seconds he pinned me up and like magic, my wedding dress was found! My dress had lace & beadwork; it was stunning. I purchased the matching veil which completed my look… I felt & looked amazing!

Blushing Bride Gushes about Gown. When I got engaged I was terrified of purchasing a wedding dress. I envisioned the horror of being Moby Dick like proportions enshrined in white while guests laid in wait to harpoon me. Scary to say the least.

But now, married not quite a week, I can say I looked beautiful and didn't have a single a whale or marshmallow moment my entire wedding day.

As a non skinny bride to be I began my search as many plus sized girls do, feeling disheartened and devoid of many choices. I went to a few salons and tried on their dresses but everything looked so over the top and nothing like me. Plus, since I'm allergic to Polyester I was breaking out in hives just trying some of these monsterous dresses on!

However, while flipping through "Elegant Bride" I found my saving grace. An ad for Birnbaum & Bullock, boasting custom sizing and all silk dresses. I quickly did a search for them and found out they were having a trunk sale the next weekend in their salon on W 25th. A call was placed, an appointment was made, a quick train ride on the LIRR, and a wedding was saved.

Meeting with Steven Birnbaum was one of the truly great moments of the whole wedding process. He was so sweet and patient and helped me visualize how the dresses could be adjusted for my voluptuous but short frame. He was so understanding and genuine with me I knew he was "the one." The one designer to work with and create my gown. With a toast of Champagne shared between my mom, my sister, Steven Birnbaum & Robert Bullock and myself, the deal was struck and the dress was purchased.

Steven Birnbuam was with me the whole process and even customized the top of the dress for me so that I could wear a regular bra . He made the singularly most beautiful dress I have ever seen and the realization that this beautiful dress was mine was almost more than I could bear.

I felt so incredibly beautiful on my wedding day (not always an easy feat for me) and I was greeted with constant praise of my dress. Everyone was awed by it.

It was so comforable and fit me like it was made for me (because after about 6 fittings - it was!) I didn't want to take it off. I wore it from 9:30 am until 11:30 pm and could have slept in it. I loved/love it so much.

As for the price - I don't have a lot of money. I didn't have a huge budget but I would gladly have spent even more on my beautiful gown. Birnbaum & Bullock may not be the cheapest but they don't work with the cheapest either. Every detail, every fabric is the best and they don't charge you through the nose for it.

All in all, I had an amazing experience and couldn't be happier with the outcome. I wish I could thank them every day for making me feel like the blushing bride I'd always dreamed of one day becoming. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Steven & Robert. You are both artisans and deserve tremendous success.
