“The ambience was very romantic, Merlot Robert Sinskey 'Reserve' Napa 1997, outstanding and the Steaks magnifique!”
“The garlic bread, fried calamari, chocolate cake and NY style cheesecake were all excellent.”
“Friday night turned out to be perfect, starting with the greeting from the pretty hostesses and the bar maid who poured good cocktails.”
“The outside was nicely charred and the quality of the meat was very good.”
“So a selection from the fairly limited wine list was the go, and it was not a bad drop all things considered.”
“great place for huge appetizers and monster filet mignon!”

“The service was slow but the amount of food you get, plan on taking your time and enjoying it.”View Less
Ignored. Me and my boyfriend had dinner reservations at the Old homestead a couple of weeks ago. We had 9pm dinner reservations and got there at 9:15pm. The host asked us to sit at the bar while they get our table ready. At 9:45 and not yet seated, I finally convinced my boyfriend to say something to the host. She had said she had called our name out "3 times" and no one answered, meanwhile WE WERE THE ONLY TWO PEOPLE AT THE BAR! When we finally got seated, the host handed us the menu. 20 minutes later, no one bother to even give us water or check up on us. We ended up walking out and going to ABE AND ARTHURS ACROSS THE STREET. SEEING HOW BUSY ABE AND ARTHURS WAS......I GUESS WE BOTH SAW WHERE ALL THEIR BUSINESS WENT......…
Best steaks in nyc. been to the Homestead once, and it was amazing. not cheap, but worth it
Check the receipt. Food is always great as I believe this is NYC's oldest steakhouse or thereabout. This was my 6th time and for the 3rd in a row we had extra drinks / bottles of wine added to the check as well as appetizers. Beware...…
Not as great as it once was.
But still very good.
With all the new steak houses in NY, I don't know if I'd put the Old Homestead on my "must go to list" but I wouldn't count it out either..
The Old Homestead' has the best Kobe beef burgers that I have ever tasted. The steak literally melts in your mouth. It is so flavorful, juicy and tender. It actually melts in your mouth. I love it.
Enjoy.…
Can't beat the awesome $19 Kobe burger lunch!.
I saw at The Old Homestead Steakhouse's website that my favorite beef - Kobe (made with hand-massaged and gourmet-fed beef) is being offered in a new lunch special, and on my next trip to the City,
I hopped right on over! Just as I remembered, the burger was bursting with flavor, the tator tots perfectly seasoned, the Caesar salad very fresh (I especially love the dressing! wish they would bottle it!), and the Cabernet exactly right. I can't believe it was all for only $19!
It's nice to know that I don't have to consider the Kobe burger just a treat anymore - I can definitely afford it much more often. I highly recommend it.…
