I've been coming to La Taza de Oro for decades. When I lived in Manhattan, it was a once a week thing. Or even more when a friend would bring takeout to me at work. It's latino comfort food. Not much to look at, but plenty to eat. As others have mentioned, the rice and beans can feed a family of four. Don't even think about cleaning your plate. They'll have to roll you down 8th avenue afterwards. It's classic Puerto Rican / Dominican home cooking. Pork dishes to die for. Steaks, soup, plantains. All yummy! The decor has been the same for as long as I can remember. Cheap, good, and plentiful!

I loved the atmosphere, service and food. I have to correct some who have said it's a Dominican and Spanish restaurant. This is pure Puerto Rican, including the owner! The decorations are very 1960's which adds to the vintage feel, and the location is great as well. I have to say I've missed the authentic Puerto Rican spots, we don't have enough these days. I can't wait to bring all my friends here!

This is a good place to get a nice, quick meal. Their Rice and Beans side dish is to die for. The meat portion of the meal can leave something to be desired, but overall, a great place to pick up a quick lunch or dinner.
