II wonder if the incredibly rude waiter we had at Cafe Loup believed himself to be tolerating rubes on the left bank instead of slogging unearned attitude in the west village. It wasn't the "I am just having a bad day" kind of nastiness, but the kind of nasty behaviour that seems to have tacit permission from the top. Anyway, the food was good. The martini GREAT. The simple dessert we ordered was below average. Unfortunately the rudeness of the waiter eclipsed an otherwise satisfactory dining experience. Maybe this waiter was an isolated experience? The coat check was no prize either. Cafe Loup would do well to read and recite the "wolf's credo" proudly displayed in the bathroom.

Cafe Loup is one of our favorite spots. We have been going here for at least 15 years and it is always charming, consistent and a lovely evening. A real gem.

Cafe Loup is the best. seriously, its the best and it is now, and has always been, the best. the food is fabulous, for brunch or dinner. the wine selection is top notch. the decor is perfect, its fancy, but not pretentious. the location is outstanding. the service is second-to-none. particularly if you are not footing the bill, go to Cafe Loup. you won't be sorry.
