In Short
This Chelsea location attracts a lively dinner crowd with its casual, festive decor and broad menu of Mexican favorites, ranging from standard burritos and enchiladas to more specialized fare. To follow the freshly made margaritas and authentic guacamole, popular entree choices include the Enchiladas Supreme with chicken, the pollo yucatan and the steak picado fundido. An extensive list of vegetarian options is also offered.

Just had dinner at Maryann's and it was packed with people. They have far too many tables in the restaurant. I understand attempting to maximize the space, but it's ridiculous. We couldn't get up from our table without disturbing the couple dining next to us by asking them to get up to make space for our exit. The crazy part about the fact that it was crowded is the food was absolutely horrible. It was basically Mexican slop on a plate. I order the beef fajitas. The beef was completely overcooked and it was a tough cut of meat to begin with. It was like chewing on beef jerky. Surrounding the tough beef and peppers & onions on the plate was a sloppy pile of rice, beans, guacamole, melted cheese and lettuce. Just one big mountain of slop. Even the tortillas were terrible. They broke in half the second they were filled with the slop. I have NO idea why people go here. There are so many good Mexican restaurants within 10 blocks of Maryann's. I am completely bewildered. If you enjoy tough beef and slop, you will love this place.

Always dependable, some interesting dishes, not expensive. Good for families or groups. Can be loud, but it's part of the festive atmosphere.

Went with a group of friends on a Friday night. Small place, but seemed like fun. Then our waitress put down a basket of chips- and a huge little legged insect (you all know what kind I mean) comes scurrying out of it! While trying to get it off the table, another one is crawling up the wall next to us! The waitress comes over and apologized by saying "It's New York City. What do you expect?" We never got to taste the food but I think the insect infestation makes it safe to say "avoid at all costs!"
