Featured Review

The Scene – While its boasts may be limited to great mashed potatoes, unpretentious patrons and a decent jukebox, sometimes that's more than enough. In the Stoned Crow's Village basement among the brownstones, you can shoot pool on a table in the back room while admiring the vintage '60s concert posters--though the best ones are in the bathrooms. – – The Draw – Long a favorite with neighborhood regulars and budget-minded NYU students, the Stoned Crow satisfies its following with cheap drinks and a down-home vibe. There's a TV in the front bar and one in the back for…

Customer Service is better at the DMV

by SunsetCamille

Never having heard or been to this establishment before, I was excited to find out more about their service and their selection of spirits and "bar food" menu. My long time h.s. friend was hosting her birthday gathering here and she selected it because it was close to her home.

Overall, the bar seemed to be a university crawl for young men. There was a dingy pool table in the back that pretty much sums up the entire experience at this place.

Upon entering the bar, I was barked at by what seemed to be the bar security or fake police. He wanted to know "if we were there for a private party?" By the looks of things, with only a two room layout, if we were heading to the back, and waving to our friends, a common lad would put 1 and 1 together to recognize that YES, we were heading to the private party.

After entering the party, we took one of the open tables reserved for the private party, close to the pool table. To my surprise, a game had started and I was quickly asked to move so a shot could take place. About 5 minutes later, the request came again. At this time, I felt it only necessary to clarify that we were in a private area, reserved for a party and that the request to move so his billiard game could continue was becoming grossly rude. This pool playing, bar fly stepped out with his chick sidekick and then returned with the idea to get the fake security involved. Needless, to say this fake security was of a one race, which happens to be the same race as myself. He claimed, “the owner has requested for us to move and to retrieve the entire table, so a pool game can begin without any disturbances”.

Do I need to go on? Stoned Crow here a minor FYI, your bar is not presentable, your menu is overpriced and is served on paper plates! Are we at a picnic in elementary school? Get a dishwasher and real dishes, it’s almost 2010 for crying out loud. I have three words of encouragement, STEP IT UP!

bartender from hell!

by reggie2676

great little place & cant beat the drink prices. however, i will never go back again!! the one bartender was rude and accussed us of not tipping him and didnt want to serve us. of course he was completely wrong! you'll notice him as the one who he claims was "born and raised in nyc" so therefore he knows what he's talking about. i would suggest only going here if you want to deal with an overconfident, rudeand obnoxious bartender who deserves a swift kick to the curb!!

  • Pros: cheap eats, drinks
  • Cons: horrible service

peaceful, mellow, friendly, don't tell anyone about this place!

by drink_club1

I never knew there was a bar here. It looks like a residential street in Greenwich Village. Nothing but townhouses... Lo and behold, there it is. A few steps downstairs, the bouncer sits discreetly inside and asks EVERYBODY (including me... I cudda kissed him!) for ID. A narrow bar area opens into a more spacious back room with a pool table. It wasn't crowded. Maybe people just don't know it's there.

The music is soft enough to talk, and the crowd is NYU-ish, but not obnoxiously so. The food is okay and a night of drinking will run you about $30 a person, tip included.

It's in my neighborhood, so I'll be back. -- Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NYC drinkers

  • Pros: not crowed, music soft enough to talk over, pool table, NYU, but not TOO NYU
  • Cons: Not CHEAP

Great, neat burger

by daddyv

My burger was bloody, like I luv it, and the fries were good, too.

Like that they have other options if you're not up for a burger.

  • Pros: Burger, wings
  • Cons: TV by the door doesn't have cable...please add Onion Rings to the menu.

Not just a good bar . .

by sunil481

. . but also the best little-known burger in NYC. Everyone knows the famous ones (Shake Shack, Burger Joint, Corner Bistro) but the Crow is right up there with them. Actually, I like Shake Shack the best but I think the Crow is tied for second with the Bistro and the Joint. In terms of taste and style the Crow is very similar to the Bistro. But without the long wait.

  • Pros: Underrated burgers, pool table, normal vibe for those who sick of the extremes (clubs on the one hand, dives on the other)
  • Cons: One pool table and way too many players
