Last Greak Bookstore in NYC. I anticipated on breezing through Skyline Books, but ended up browsing up an hour. In terms of stock - especially the photography, art and literature sections - it's quite fantastic and the prices are quite reasonable. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable, especially the owner who told me he personally picks out each piece in the store.

Totally recommend this place, especially if you have some free time to browse the stacks. There's a 30% off sale currently at the store, which the counter dude said was ending "soon." Not sure what that means, but I would go to the shop ASAP!

What happened?. This once great book store is now somewhat of a dump. The dust and mildew is strong in Skylines small space where you have to step over boxes of books to try to find anything. Except for the one woman who works there (who is extremely knowledgeable and friendly), the rest of the staff is rude, bitter, unknowledgeable and not very helpful. What happened? I long for the old days when this was one of the better book stores.

Like Candy for your Brain. Skyline has a lot of interesting books you probably won't find anywhere else. This is the store you come when you've been looking for that Walker Evans photography catalogue, or Andy Warhol book you haven't been able to find for years. They have an extensive inventory which leans heavily towards art and photography.

Literary and Modern first editions, signed and unsigned fill the shelves as well. If you're a rare book collector, or just a book lover, this is your new favorite store.

In this eccentric's library, no unusual book is too hard to find.. The Scene
On this flatiron-district block that's home to several bookstores, Skyline stands out for its packed yet easily navigable arrangement of used and "uncommon" titles. It also boasts an efficient out-of-print book search: Instead of pestering publishers or combing shops all over town, you just fill out a form and let the staff do the legwork. (They'll call you within a few weeks with an update.)

The Goods
Arts are a specialty here, from weighty monographs on household names to obscure one-shot catalogs, and there are full sections on fashion, theater and design. Literary fiends can drool over signed copies and first editions up front, or wander to the back of the shop and peruse interesting nonfiction categories like Military History, Heraldry, and Occult--a testament to the bizarre reading habits of some mysterious New Yorkers.
