Terrible service - more than 3 staff members gave attitude. I'm a leisure traveler, but clearly with a tight budget. My family and I went visit NY for the first time and had terrible experience with the hotel. We are very upset with this hotel now :(. I had issue with Hotel Chelsea and needed to call to talk to the manager. She was not pleasant at all, shut me down several times and eventually hung up on me. The waiting time to reach her was long and I didn't even talk to her for more than 5 minutes so in any standard, i shouldn't be considered one of the naggy customers who try to stay on the phone for one hour to complain about one tiny stuff. We are talking about more than $250 per night! I tried to call back at least four times, all of which the front desk helped me transfer but i got it straight to the manager's voice mail. THe fifth time I called, the front desk rep told me the manager was in a meeting, but I highly doubt that from the time she hung up on me and the next time i called, she couldn't have had to attend a meeting so "suddenly." I asked the front desk for the manager's full name but none of them told me the manager's last name. Even the front desk then gave me an attitude. I am trying to find the owner of this hotel to report about this unprofessional staff. I hope there could be improvements, but for now, this experience really upsets my family and me.

Spend the night in a historic hotel!. The Chelsea Savoy is a fantastic place to stay in New York! The neighborhood is fantastic and where else can you find the heritage that the Savoy has to offer?

CONVENIENT, CLEAN AND RELIABLE. I have stayed at the Chelsea Savoy numerous times. As a former New Yorker, I am very "picky" when it comes to staying at hotels. On the "numerous" occasions, I have stayed at the Savoy, my stay has been most pleasant. The rooms are decent in size, but most of all, they are clean. Room service is reliable and there is always someone at the front desk to answer your calls and accomodate the guest. Additionally, if there is ever a problem in the room, they take care of it. I highly recommend looking into the Chelsea Savoy if you are looking for a place to stay in the Chelsea area.

A standard hotel in a not-so-standard part of town.. The Scene
This big, boxy building on a busy street corner is home to friendly service and surprisingly affordable rates. Despite the local bustle, its Chelsea location is a welcome relief from the often tourist-filled frenzy of Midtown. Consequently, you'll enjoy dining and drinking with real Manhattanites and not lumpy, wide-eyed tourists.

The Details
One of the walls of the hotel's lobby is plastered with framed autographs of the celebrities who have rested their weary heads down here. The rooms are spacious by Manhattan standards and the furniture is made of real wood--not the glossy Formica you'll find in suburban hotel chains. There's also cable TV for when you need a breather from the dynamic surroundings.

Convenient locale, itchy sheets. I too have stayed here on many a business trip. Excellent location! Great nearby restaurants. No fitness room though and the sheets are oh so itchy. A little fabric softener would go a long way. The rooms are very clean though, which is always appreciated.

Good basic hotel. I stayed here often during business trips. It's a basic no-frills value hotel, and the staff is competent. Rooms are clean. Bedding is typically institutional, but the pillows are adequate despite that. The key, as the review says, is that this is right on the west-side subway line and there's great stuff all around the hotel.
