Great colorist!. Chris Mitchell is a friendly neighborhood salon. I am quite particular about my color (who isn't!) Maria is extremely skilled at what she does. Each visit my hair is assessed carefully and decided what is need at the time. She takes the time to listen and respond to questions. With Maria, I always am in good hands.
Thank you Maria!.
Just left my first visit with Maria for color and I am sold! She is a true professional. She listened carefully to what I wanted, and then gave me exactly what I asked for.
My highlights look gorgeous and I will definitely be back for more.
Great Stylist. Tina is the best - she has been cutting my hair for the past couple of years and never fails to make it beautiful. She is a wonderful stylist that I highly recommend to anyone in search for one.
Your new, and final "Hair Guy" ~ Leaonard Golino (Len/Lenny.
Lenny is your new and final stylist/colorist.
He's amazing with hair - how amazing you're sure to be asking... well, let's just say I've walked out of that salon on two totally separate occasions and was stopped on the sidewalks of New York by a total stranger who simply wanted to stop me and let me know how great they thought my hair looked - that speaks volumes...no?
He did a coloring for me one Christmas that I thought was just not possible - it was amazing!
Really there should be nothing more for me to say, but I have to add that Lenny is the total-package - his personality tips the scales... He listens(!), he keeps the mood positive and upbeat, and you can just tell by the interactions he has that I'm not the only person who just loves and adores him.
Leonard makes getting your hair done a real joyful experience - from the moment you come in the door, to several weeks later when your (still) checking yourself out in the mirror and admiring his work.
He really is your new, and final, "hair guy".
Dan is awesome!.
Can I just say that I heart Dan! He is a great great colorist and on top of that, everyone at the salon is incredibly friendly.
A couple of things about me before I move on:
-I'm probably the most annal person when it comes to my hair.
-I'm super picky and I know exactly what I want and how I want it.
-I'm extra protective of who touches my hair and of my hair overall.
So that said, I'm extra cautious to try new places and do a lot of background research. I had originally been going to Space Salon down in soho, but that place was really putting a huge dent in my bank account so I decided to search for a cheaper BUT just as GOOD salon. After visiting the 2 other salons, Leonard Golino was my last one and when I sat with Dan and heard what he had to say I was just sold!
A little more background about myself. I'm Asian and I have BLACK BLACK hair but I want my hair to be BLONDE. Not dirty blonde, not dark blonde, BUT BLONDE. So when I tell colorists this, they usually have to do two or three processes for my hair. When I was shopping around for a new colorist, my hair had been experimented on by someone I was trying to save money with and because of that it needed some corrective work. So when I went to see the other other salons and told them what I wanted, both told me I would have to spend approximately $500 or up (i have very long hair as well) and they would probably need to do 3 processes on my hair.
BUT when I went to see Dan, what did he tell me? He told me he could achieve the look I wanted with just pure highlights!!! CAN YOU FREAKIN believe that? I couldn't!!! But he explained to me that he puts in A LOT of highlights and he could blend it so that I can look as BLONDE as I want with just highlights and there won't be additional damage for my hair with 3 processes! Let me tell you I LOVED everything he was telling me. What girl wouldn't want less damage to their beloved locks? And he reassured me that if I wasn't fully happy with my hair, he'd fix it with another process.
So what happened? He did just highlights (and a partial set at that, not full), added some extra highlights in the back to fix what I didn't like in the back and guess what? HE DELIVERED ON WHAT HE PROMISED!!! I was blonde with out the 3 processes!!! I LOVED IT and he is my new permanent colorist in NY.
Your search for a stylist is over...this'll change your life.
Why would anyone go anywhere else, once this studio has been discovered? That's rhetorical: there is NO reason.
This warm and welcoming place manages to be professional and charming, edgy, fashionable and accessible all at once. From the moment one enters and is greeted with a smile and the offer of refreshment, through a wonderful hair wash to the consultation and engagement of a new stylist, this place exceeded expectations at every step.
Everyone there is friendly, whether you are the client or not; and there is no hesitation from the professionals to offer suggestions for a style or cut that can refresh one's visage...and life.
I entered, wanting the Same Fine Cut I'd had for over 10 years - it had served me well. Well, the Brilliant, Handsome and Talented Lionel had a suggestion that I took; completely changed my cut to something far easier, more youthful-looking (yet still age-appropriate), and it changed my life.
Seriously!
My date book is packed, I've taken up auto-racing (watch for me at LeMans!), am booked for a piano recital at Carnegie Hall, will soon open on Broadway in a one-man dramatic show about my life and will launch my new men's fashion line in the Spring. This, all due to my new haircut.
I'm telling you; Chris Mitchell Studio is the place!
My favorite salon and stylist!.
I have been coming to see Tina for years, and she never disappoints! My color and cut look beautiful for weeks after I see her. I can't rave enough about the results. I always leave feeling gorgeous and looking forward to what I'll get done next time!
Tina and the other stylists truly care about their clients' hair. She and the patient staff have stayed past closing on numerous occasions just to finish my hair because I didn't book a long enough appointment. They are not in a rush to get clients out the door. I have never been disappointed after a visit, but I know that if someone was not fully pleased with results, the stylists would do everything possible to make the situation right. They don't want anyone to walk out the door feeling let down.
Visiting the salon is always an enjoyable experience - polite, unpretentious staff; low-key atmosphere; and complimentary wine! Whether you want to chat incessantly the whole time you're there or just relax and read quietly (I've done both!), the staff will happily oblige.
I'm so happy to have finally found a favorite salon and stylist!
Great experience at the salon. Very welcoming, the receptionist was pleasant. I was seen very promptly without an appointment and they offered me a glass of wine. Staff all very friendly. The shampoo lady did a thorough job and gave me a small massage. The lady who did my hair was excellent. She asked me what I wanted and did exactly what I requested. She offered suggestions of how to keep my hair healthy. She wasn't pushy and never negative. Never encouraged me to get a haircut as most stylists do. I will become a regular. Place was newly renovated.
Leonard Golino amazing artist, exceptional person. A warm, welcoming salon that houses Len who is truly a fantastic colorist and stylist. My hair has been in recovery from first a really bad haircut then a disastrous color experience at two separate, quality salons in the city. My hair had to be cut shorter to start the repair process but somehow my hair always feels longer when I leave my session w/ Lenny?!?! I always ask him how can this be and he just smiles basking in the pride of his work. I have been going for a few months and my hair has been transformed. I can't imagine ANYONE ELSE ever touching my hair again. I took a stack of business cards because I want everyone I talk to to experience this salon and Leonard!
Len is the best in town!. I've been coming to Leonard Golino for years and I couldn't imagine going to anybody else. Never a rushed job or generic haircut, Len actually listens to what YOU want and takes it from there. Not only a women's hair cut specialist, Len also excels at mens cuts. The warm and welcoming atmosphere at the Chris Mitchell Salon is a fresh breath of air from the all-to-familiar pretentious vibe most of us have experienced somewhere along the way at other Manhattan salons. I referred my brother years ago and he's been coming back ever since too! I highly recommend!
