“Lombardi's first impression: nice pizza parlor like room, ambiance great, BUT THEN they send you somewhere else.”
“Rice to Riches across the street is a nice timesaver pre-Lombardi's or post-Lombardi's for dessert.”
“Go for pizza, leave for ice cold beer.”
“And if you like seafood, order the clam pie: clams, garlic, olive oil, and a dusting of cheese--that's all.”
“asked for fresh garlic which the menu says "ask for our fresh gralic”
“Lombardis is by far the best pizza place in the city!”
“The kids said the pizza was "totally awesome" and can't wait to go back in the spring.”
“Terrible service!”
“All in all service is really fast and prices are really fair- great place to bring visitors to nyc!”
“At the door there was a gentleman or a greater that not even did he did not said good afternoon welcome to Lombardis all that was saided how many are you and the waiting time was less than fifteen minutes.”
While it undoubtedly makes a fine pizza, Lombardi's wouldn't be listed in the honor roll of classic New York pizzerias but for two indisputable facts. One is their coal oven, which puts out a volcanic heat that neither wood nor gas can match. The other fact is that, ahem, they invented pizza, at least here in America. That claim is undeniable and earns it respect forever.
On a recent trip to NYC from New Zealand , My 2 nephew's and my cousin ( who is a NYC Local) came to your establishment , And as a person who has worked in some top Italian Restaurants/Pizzeria's in New Zealand I have to say I was extremely disappointed with the Pizza which had a terribly soggy base , lacked flavour , When I asked the waiter to take the pizza away to be cooked more he looked at me like " Oh what would you know about Pizza" It wasn't until my Cousin dropped in and said " Would you send out a pizza like that in YOUR RESTAURANT" that the waiter changed his tone. Extremely disappointed with the food and service
It is really a great pizza, no doubt
about it. However, it is tough to get a table, even for two. Needs more seating room, the second time we went there, my husband and I agreed to wait 45 minutes, then when the time was up, we were asked to wait another 25 minutes, so we left.
What annoys me the most is the rude attitude that the hosts have, they seem to be too overwhelmed by the crowd, that they wouldn t even crack a smile at you, but this is not all, when you ask about your table, they wouldn t even answer, really give a bad impression of the place.
The place looks so beautiful from inside and the food smells great and fresh. We are planning to go back here this weekend and I bet eating here will be a regular thing from now on.
The tip I would like to give Lombardi's is: Take a road trip to New Haven Connecticut to taste what pizza is all about. Both Pepi's and Sally's are hands down far superior. They use quality products. We purchased a clam pizza and a margherita pizza spent over $100. It was the most dissapointed meal we had during our long weekend. Too bad we were very excited to visit. We will not return. The pizza had no flavor, thankfully there was salt, red crushed pepper and grated cheese on the table. The pizza came out very quickly. Almost think the dough is pre-cooked. Shame on you! You are definately not the best.......
We got there at 10:25pm and were told that the rest of the night was "take out only". They advertise to be open until 11pm. Not so bad, unless you are from out of town and planned your night down to the minute. sorry but I did not travel to NY to eat pizza on the curb, went somewhere else and the pizza was great. Won't try this place again.
The food is really delicious. The staff is friendly. It's just a fantastic restaurant
