best fun place with good food and comedy. This place is just good fun alone or on a date. I like the chalk board tables and the colored chalk they leave out in a bowl. They have a good selection of middle eastern food, good burgers, good wings and they play old black and white Chaplin movies. they also have board games you can borrow and use and free wifi. At night there is comedy club down stairs- I've caught the late show a few times, these are real comedians that do stand up, not local kids trying to break in to comedy. The show is very funny and it's only around $25 for the cover. Sometimes they are pretty raunchy so you might think about that when planning a date here.
Free Wifi. I was in search of a great place to eat that had free wifi, good food, cappuccino or just some caffeine and would let me sit there for a few hours from 12-4. That was this place. I plugged in my laptop and went to work on a burger, sprite, 4 cups of cappuccino and on an upcoming event. Great atmosphere and service.
Chaplin Movies, Music, Chalk Tables, and Comedy = 5 Stars!. One of my favorite places to go. Has a great atmosphere with silent Charlie Chaplin movies always playing, and a great mixture of music from classic jazz (Sinatra, Glenn Miller Band) to funk and soul (James Brown, Aretha Franklin). The food is pretty good as well, definitely 4 stars on the food. The tables are chalk boards which is always fun to draw stupid pictures or play games. Also, the best part is the comedy club in the basement. You have to buy tickets to get to watch it, but they're relatively cheap and its usually a full house. The entire experience is just great, and you and your friends will have a great night there.
delicious food. The food here is absolutely delicious. Best burger in the area, and one of the best in the city. The regular fries and the chicken sandwiches are also amazing.
Amazing WIngs and Atmosphere. I love this place! i went once with some friends on a whim and now whenever ive craving wings and im in the city thats where i go. I love love love wings and ive been many many places for them, but the great thing about the wings here is that they have a really unique taste. They are a bit spicy but so full or flavor, even their blue cheese dip is unique and the combination is like flavor heaven. Its cute and fun and all the tables are made of chalk board so you can draw on them or play tick tack toe lol. Its a great date place and the menu is very fairly priced and covers almost everything. I highly recommend it. I have yet to know someone that ive taken there or been there on their own that had anything bad to say about Olive Tree.
Late Night Eats. This is an excellent place to eat after you've been out an about in the Village, be it 1am or 1pm. Love the Charlie Chaplin silent movies, can get kind of crowded though at night. Its cheap and you can draw on the table while you wait for your food. They've taken away the the Shwarma Guy though to make more room for tables, so its a little tight and busy (especially at night). Comedians run rampant through there (Due to the Comedy Place downstairs), so you can see anyone on any given night. But when your hungry at 1am and your looking for a place to eat, this might be a sight for sore eyes and empty stomachs or a quick laugh when you go to the bathroom. Cool.
Great Appetizers! GReat selection of basic middle eastern food!. Went there last night and had an awesome time! Tasty middle eastern dishes! Great Sangria too! Would defintely visit soon
good food, one of my frequents. i really like the food and drinks here. i recommend getting the hummus platter thingies, they are really good and not expensive at all. the desserts are especially tasty, and drinks are usually good too. i have to agree though that the service is kind of crappy. you may have to ask for a drink a couple times before you get it. but the coolest part about the restaurant are the chalkboard tables, which is sooo fun to draw all over while you eat :)
Horrible Service. The food is good, but the service is horrible. When you come in, the hotess will ask you, with a nasty face, how many people are coming and if you're really hungry. They rush over to get your order without giving you time to think and when you tell them you're ready, they make you wait a half hour until they take your order. They are spiteful and do not bring your food out quickly if you took a little extra time to order. The food is good, but nothing special. This is definitely not a place to go to and relax because of the hostile atmosphere from the employees.
Worth the 2 hours ride from Connecticut. after moving away from NYC and 3 years later you just can not find anything like anywhere else. The Mid Eastern platter are to die from the kabobs make my husbands mouth water even if he just had dinner. The lines are alway long but well worth it The place is a hole in the wall just like you alway hear people say when they find that great little place and THIS IS IT!! see all of you soon.
