“Even the desserts are fabulous.”
“The food is always great and the wine selection matches perfectly.”
“The mussels were excellent as was the steak.”
“am a huge fan of the summer menu's cold Salmon and soft shell crabs.”
“have yet to come in the summer as i am never around, but this cozy little restaurant is a great go to place for the winter months where you can eat, relax, and be comfy cozy over a terrific bottle of wine.”
“My date could not stop raving about the food, she was very impressed and so was I. We had a very nice waiter who helped us pick the wine and did not try and point us in the direction of the most expensive bottle in the house.”
“The portions are generous and I love the truffle and port sauce for the filet mignon.”
Delicious!!. It was my first time at Le Jardin last night. I had the venison special. OH MY GOODNESS!! I have never had venison before and have always wanted to try it. Everythings was FANTASTIC. The food, the service, the atmosphere...wonderful. I will most certainly be going back and next time i am trying the stew...unless there is another special to lure me away :)
Simple French pleasures in a stellar setting.. Host Israel Katz rules the roost at this rustic French bistro on the eastern fringes of Soho. The simple decor features French doors, a pressed-tin ceiling and a wooden bar heaped with flowers. Out back, a large garden, planted with grape vines and vegetables, allows for dining under the stars. The menu features classic French bistro fare, like steamed mussels with French fries and hangar steak with a green peppercorn sauce.
just ok. The back garden is charming, but the food lacks consistency. On previous visits I've had the salmon which was very good. But on a recent visit, most of the meal fell short. The endive salad that we started with was very nice, but the Coq Au Vin, while extremely tender, was too dry. The vegetables had almost no flavor. After a few halfhearted stabs at the chicken I pushed my plate aside and focused on the best part of the meal: the wine and the good warm bread. I sampled the chicken breast stuffed with mushrooms my friend had ordered, which sounded appealing on the menu, but was not very good - bland and also dry, the meat not very tender. The server that brought out the water and bread at the start was attentiive, but our waiter was not. For the price, the quality of food and service was not what it should have been. In colder months, seated in the small dining room with a smaller number of other patrons, the service was better.
One of my favorites in NY!. Being a NYer, you know it is hard to find a great restaurant, even though there are a million out there! Le Jardin is one of those places you can always rely on! There is no drama with reservations or staff. The food is always great and the wine selection matches perfectly. I can't wait to go back soon for my Valentine's dinner!
Good food, nice outdoor setting. We had a table in the backyard & it was perfect for me to catch up with my friends. The food was good, although I don't know too much about French foods. Nice setting, good food, good friends, what more can I ask for!
Not what it used to be. I first starting going to this restaurant about ten years ago and would come back at least once a year to visit an old friend. Unfortunately, the success and it fashion has taken a toll for the worse. In my last visit, the fish soup was a weak broth that was not worthy of diner food. The mussels were overcooked and the portion much smaller than from years gone by. The fries that came with the omlet were soggy and the omelet was on par with a Greek diner-but much more expensive. As for the desert, the chocolate sauce tasted as if it were out of a Hershey bottle. the only part of the meal I liked was the martini, which was a very good one. While the inside decor is attractive, and the garden is nice space at night, if you ever go and spend time in the garden during the day,a and look at the furnishings and the canopy, the entire space looks as if it were assembled with parts left over from a junk yard. Chairs are beat, tables wobble, and canopy is rusting and held together with twsited wire. For what this place charges, the filth and lack of attention to the surroundings is unacceptable.
Le Magnifique!!. I've lived in NYC my whole life and have seen many restaurants come and go, I've been to great restaurants that are still around but are not quite the same anymore. Le Jardin Bistro is one of the few exceptions. It's a CLASSIC, period! Anyone who knows great French food, exceptional value, quality service and has an appreciation for one of the sexiest dining gardens in the city, should be a regular at this place. If you haven't been, then you're just depriving yourself, and if you have and don't feel the same, then you're either not from NY or you just don't have a clue!
Yeah!! the garden is open!. Lovely NYC weather is back and there is no place better to enjoy it then Le Jardin! Weekend brunches and romantic dinners are perfect in the beautiful garden. I am a huge fan of the summer menu's cold Salmon and soft shell crabs. Be sure to make a res as the garden is always packed!
Great summer garden bistro!. Out of many french restaurants in the city, Jardin is the bistro to go back to. It's unpretentious with a pleasant atmosphere. I find that most small bistros have very similar, plasticky food, but Jardin really sticks out with its delicious, well-priced dishes. I tried a few entrees and each one was served with different vegetables and potatoes. The portions are generous and I love the truffle and port sauce for the filet mignon. I can't think of anything better than a big bowl of mussels, great wine, a summer breeze, and a table in the garden.
Le medicore....
I was sorely disappointed with the ambience, meal and service. Plastic tables and chairs from Target do not exactly fit my description of romantic outdoor seating.
I do not normally post reviews, good or bad, but after our evening at le Jardin I felt compelled to urge others not to make the same mistake I did.
