One of the last great Bleecker Street haunts to survive the Midtownifaction of the Village, the Peculiar is still dark, woody, filled with students, and has three million kinds of beer.

LAME, BORING, VERY SOFT JUKEBOX, OLD-MAN BAR. This had to be one of the lamest, boring bars I've been to in NYC. I don't think I can say anything good about this place. The drinks are NOT cheap compared to REAL dive bars in the city. They have a horrible jukebox filled with mostly garbage 90's rock music (not even the good bands). On top of that, even when the jukebox is playing, you cannot hear the music because it's so soft. The bartenders were friendly, and that's probably the only good thing I can say. The neighborhood is also filled with mostly freaks. There were a few young couples at this bar, but mostly old men and gay people. My recommendation is to stay away from these village bars and check out the Patriot instead on Chambers & Church. Drinks are cheaper there and you can actually hear the music.

the un-trendy. Every time I'm in NY I love to go to this pub. It is loud and packed in the evening but it has a fun atmosphere. It's loud and everyone is having a great time!! It has an amazing selection of beer. I love getting the flavor of an old city and the neighborhood crowd. It even feels a lot like the neighborhood pubs in Scottland and England. You can feel history here.

more than 200 beers & fun!. My favorite bar. A dive with old fashioned NY tin ceilings and a choice of over 200 beers. A staff that knows the beers. They don't take credit cards and they add the tip into each drink, so you'll always tip too much. Sometimes the juke box is too loud. The wings and curly fries are terrific. The staff is friendly, and knows their beer. Tommy the long time owner, might sit with you and talk about the old days. Decidedly untrendy. --Drink Club, a weekly group of NYC social drinkers

Full of 40-50 year olds. I dont know what these people are talking about...this place was full of old heads; at least 40 to 50 years old. Even the bouncer was historic. Place sucked. Did have good selection of beer.

How Peculier.... Located right by NYU. Peculier is a college bar if there ever was one. It is hella packed with young twenty somethings looking to have fun with some good friends and get wasted on cheap beer. And u know what? That's just the way we like it.

Peculier Pub. Has nice big booths which are great for a group, and convenient for ordering food with your drinks. Great place to go with a bunch of friends - it wasn't too crowded when I was there and they were great about handling groups.

Beer and crowds. One of the first places to get lots of different beers on tap -- now one of many. But if you like old, smoky and run-down (for real, not like a fake dive), give it shot. It IS filled with young loud college kids, but then again, so is the entire area. One more interesting note: I've always been told and believe that the tip is included in the price of the beer here. I think it even says it on the menu. I'll be testing that theory tonight.

Unoriginal and boring. This place is essentially the basement of a frat house. The crowd is half yuppies and half college kids. The place looks rundown and is frequently overcrowded with unfriendly bartenders. They have a good selection of beers on tap, which makes it a nice place to stop by for a quick drink to meet up with people before heading out for real. Nothing more than a pitstop.

Beer lovers. The Peculiar Pub is a great stop on a Friday night- half way between Wall Street and Mid twon, on your way to a late night on the upper east side. If you are a beer lover you must stop by, especially if you are a cave dweller like the rest of us.
