Good Food, Nice People, Nice Live Music
by felakuti
I went to Boom 2 Weeks ago on a Wednesday Night.
It was great to find a lively place on weekday offering live music and good food.
The Band played some not so uptight jazz, and included a great percussionist, a mean sax player, a guitarist, and keyboard player. The music included some standards and some not so standard pieces in the complex it was very lively and different from your typical restaurant jazz band. During the break, a girl came up and sang some lovely Brazilian songs.
The waiters are prompt and attentive and the crowd was a lot of fun to watch. I had a blast and I will be back.
- Pros: live music, ambience, food
- Cons: I like to cook my own food.
Boom is a Gem in SOHO
by citywatcher
Live Jazz, Indian, Moroccan and other interesting fusions of original music with No cover charge! Boom is so amazing for a fun night with amazing Italian food, wine, beautiful women, nice staff and high level musicians! I have been checking out guitarist, Nick Russo & vocalist Miles Griffith with tabla and percussion on Thursdays (Jazz, originals & Indian Ragas), trumpeter/vocalist, Solade (original grooves) on Wednesdays and now they have vocalist, Malika sometimes on a Tuesday doing Moroccan music & jazz. The atmosphere is warm, friendly with a 'party' vibe towards the end. I always meet new people when I go there...everyone is very open! Check it out when you are in SOHO.
- Pros: good parking, great food, hot women
- Cons: too much fun!, u go home w/a hottie!, I don't wanna leave!
How can you screw up cooking pasta
by luciatribuzio
The gnocchi were so over -cooked they were mush and the special which was orrechiette with broccoli rabe and sausage was terrible too. In this case the pasta was so under cooked, and they served it with broccoli, not broccoli rabe as advertised.
