Great Food. Always great food ,always great experience nice, cute, friendly place to enjoy great ribs with friends or love ones.I take family and friends and always the same great experience love it.
Stay Away!. I had wanted to try this place for quite awhile, but I couldn't have been more disappointed. The BBQ was awful and what I could eat of it sat like rock in my stomach for the rest of the night. The Mon/Tues special would be a great deal if anything other than the sides were edible. The best thing this place has going for it is the salad dressing.
Hearty Barbeque in SoHo. The food here is very simple, very traditional, and quite good. I have tried the burgers, ribs, and nachos, and have enjoyed all of them. The service is functional and works effectively as well. The portions are generous, and if you come here, you will get a full meal. For gatherings with friends, this place is great.
BBQ thats big on FAT. Their Tuesday night rib special is hefty portion wise but also hefty fat/gristle wise. Where's the meat? You will definitely get served a lot of food but I wasn't impressed with the taste of the BBQ. Maybeb I've become jaded after watching all the Food Network BBQ specials. Overall Tennessee is decent but nothing spectacular.
Shoddy Service / Average Food. Although the previous reviews posted are mixed, I decided to give this restaurant a try because I love Southern food. We came for lunch on a Saturday. Although the hostess was not in a good mood, we decided to proceed. We were given the worst table in the place right next to the kitchen. Seeing that ALL the other tables were empty, I asked for a different table. The staff on hand grudgingly facilitated the transfer to another table. The food is nowhere near any food Ive had in the South. On their website, they mentioned that The BBQ experience should be fun and comforting. IT IS NOT SO!!! Definitely NOT IN THIS RESTAURANT!!! I say avoid this place like the plague. Your money is better spent elsewhere.
A touristy, tasty rib joint in the heart of Soho..
The Scene
Out-of-towners seem to be the core clientele here, but this restaurant dates to 1982, well before Soho became the shopping destination it is today. Pine paneling and rustic touches successfully conjure a hole-in-the-wall mood without sacrificing cleanliness. The experience, from the service to the decor, is a bit impersonal, but streamlined and pleasant.
The Food
Ribs are the menu staple: Pork ribs prepared five ways (Carolina-style is best) as well as beef ribs. They're all tender and flavorful, though the meat has to hold its own against potent sauces and rubs. Other Americana favorites are here in abundance: Half-chickens, burgers, steaks, crab cakes. The burgers are leanish but tasty; the crab cakes are satisfying (although a little low on crab content). It's a good destination if down-home is what you're craving.
THE BEST BARBEQUE PLACE IN TOWN!. My husband and I LOVE this place! With all the restaurants NYC, this one is my Favorite! The food, service and location is EXCELLENT!
Great place. Went with my husband and his 2 boys ages 13 and 18. We all loved it. They had different rib dishes and I had the vegetable quisadilla (spelling?). Service was excellent which I was very grateful for since we were celebrating my husband's birthday and it certainly made the event more enjoyable. Servers were friendly and prompt. Atmosphere could be a little more interesting.
Brown Gravy?!. Ever since moving from Texas, I have really missed my chicken fried steak. When I ordered from Tennessee Mountain (delivery), my chicken fried steak came with brown gravy! That's right, Southerners, I said brown gravy! Someone needs to take a trip to any place in the South and order chicken fried steak and they'll see that it should come with cream gravy. So, this was a bad first impression. I know it's a silly complaint, but it's such an important part of eating great chicken fried steak. At least the garlic mashed potatoes were good. My search continues for good chicken fried steak (I didn't think it was that difficult to make).
BBQ. We were shopping in Soho and looking for a place to stop for lunch. A sales person in one of the stores told us about this place and it is really great! Kid friendly and good BBQ. Attentive wait staff and nice atmosphere as well. Definitely a good find!
