Madame X is a plush, red, bordello-style bar and lounge with fabulous lighting and lots of cozy, intimate nooks for conversation. We have private party rooms available for all sorts of gatherings, accommodating groups ranging from 35 to 150 guests. Other arrangements can be made to reserve seating for smaller parties. A rotating cast of DJs keeps the atmosphere lively, but you can find a peaceful place for a drink and/or a smoke in our tranquil garden, open every night until 4 AM and heated in winter for your comfort. The vibe is sexy, classy and comfortable. If you're looking for velvet-rope attitude, you won't find it here.

Red light bulbs and lampshades cast a crimson glow upon a bordello-like bar bedecked with burgundy velvet-draped couches and a slew of nude prints. A curtain blanketing the back wall gives the impression that a show is perennially about to start, but the pulse of jazz, dancehall, hip-hop and reggae never lets up, precluding the possibility of anything but a liquor-lapping good time. A 20-something crowd partakes of gleefully named drinks such as the Sweet Little Bitch--a mix of Amaretto, Grand Marnier and pineapple juice--in the main bar area and one of several adjoining party rooms.
Hits: Open year-round, the heated backyard serves as a party space unto itself--some drinkers post out there for the duration of the evening. If you can tolerate the smoke, it's one of the city's outdoor gems.
Misses: The crowds during primetime boozing hours can be overwhelming in the worst way. There's also nothing particularly glamorous about most of the clientele.

Went to this place on the recommendation of a friend after I mentioned I wanted to go someplace new. The staff is friendly - and the vibe is great! Would come again!

I just went out on a date in this little lounge bar the other night. It was beautiful. The lighting, the furniture, the atmosphere. Its small enough to be comfy, but roomy enough to be luxurious. The service was pleasant and quick. It was a great place for a first date. The only complaint I have was the bathroom was a little dirty. I realize that that is pretty common all over New York, so it wasn't that big of a deal. It won't stop me from coming back to this place. I really loved it.

This was such a fantastic cozy place for a private party - even though it is not a huge space, the way it is set up made it feel like there was tons of space. It is funky, cozy and intimate. The bartenders who worked our party (Alex and Jonathan) were completely top-notch!

Arrive early for the daily specials. Some drinks go for a measly 5 bucks until 9pm; get there before 9:30pm on Friday and Saturday nights and avoid the $5 cover.
What to Drink:
Treat your girl to a Cherry Pop--a blissful blend of Bacardi Limon, triple sec, Rose's lime juice, sour cherry syrup, sour mix and soda.
