New Japanese Cuisine with European and Asian Influences

  • New Japanese
  • Sushi and Sashimi
  • Lounge

BONDST, located in NoHo, is a trendy downtown restaurant with a warm minimalist interior design. The cuisine is new Japanese with European and Asian influences.

Its kitchen boasts fresh, original, and vibrantly spiced food, while the servers are friendly and attentive. BONDST offers the best of both worlds, a fine dining experience and a relaxed, intimate atmosphere.

This celebrity hot-spot offers an attractive setting, as well as a diverse and excellent menu which delights even the most fussy of palates. The innovative kitchen creates delectable offerings such as fugu sashimi (blowfish) and seared tuna and foie gras with plum wine glaze.

BONDST Beverly Hills opened in early January.

Editorial Review for BONDST – by Ben Williams

The Scene
In the booming '90s, celebs flocked to the leather banquettes and minimal, candlelit ambience of BondSt's downstairs lounge. The crowd is still monied, but these days you're more likely to find yourself squeezed next to a New Jersey paper millionaire than a movie star. The wannabe-model waitstaff are as gorgeous as ever, and the lighting is dim enough to conceal rather drab decor.

The Food
High-end Japanese goodies are sprinkled throughout the menu: Toro-caviar sushi comes with a decorative gold twist on top, foie gras meets seared tuna to intoxicating effect and arctic char garnished with truffles has almost too much flavor. Yellowtail is superb enough to make a special featuring four different types a highlight. Blue fin toro is the gorgeously soft center of a special roll. If you want variety, the excellent 6 Bond Nigiri special delivers six exotic combinations.

Insider Tips

What to Drink

The sake menu is one of the longest in the city, stretching up to $200 bottles. Saketini cocktails have become commonplace, but they're rarely mixed as well as they are here--sweet and dry options both achieve perfect balance.

Bond St. is a warm and relaxing place to bring clients. I brought a party of 10 clients unannounced one evening and the hostess accommodated us in no time. The crowd is hip, sophisticated and sheek, but be prepared to deal with a snotty wait staff.

Pros: amience

Cons: snotty wait staff

We took clients out for dinner to Bond St, and had a wonderful experience. Not only was the food delicious, but the attention to detail and customer service was over the top. We had an interesting experience in which another table of customers were rude and out of line. The wait staff, manager and security immediately got involved and handled the situation with respect and professionalism. The situation could have gotten ugly but didn't because Bond St. has a top notch staff. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Pros: Food, service, overall experience.

Cons: None.
