Small, swank, and classy, it's hard to believe that a place like this would go to great lengths to make great sushi. Most customers can't tell the difference between good and great if their live depended on it; so why bother? And yet they do, with transcendantly fresh fish, prepared as expertly as anywhere outside a handful of New York sushi temples.

Fresh Sushi. I have gone here 3-4 and every time the sushi has been fantastic. The service is also very good. It is a little on the expensive side in terms of price but if this is a place you go to only so often it is well worth the price.
Citysearch Editorial Review. BondSt has been in Noho long enough to have earned a reputation. Some know it as the celebrity hangout it was in its early days. Most know it for the exquisite sushi of Shigeru Mikami. But few realize that executive chef Marc Spitzer's catch-driven menu of modern Japanese cuisine is the main event. Whether it's Hama-Hama oysters lightly smoked in hickory or pork belly braised in miso and served with artichoke foam and powderized olive oil, his dishes feel inventive and intuitive--different approaches to a familiar food that make you wonder why it isn't always served that way. Spitzer also collaborates with barman Warren Hode on the other best reason to visit: the cocktails. Ingredients you won't find at any other bar (cherry blossoms, shiso, shisito peppers, candied seaweed, pickled ginger) are mixed with inventive spirits (nori-infused Yamasaki whiskey, toasted sesame rum) in re-inventions of classic cocktails, like an old-fashioned made with agave nectar and yuzu bitters, that, like the food, instantly make perfect sense.
Great food, decor and service. To me this is the best Japanese restaurant in town.
My recommendation is the sea bass. you MUST try it. Oh so good. I took many Japanese friends there and everybody loved it!!!! However this place is not for Sushi. They do better on traditional Japanese family dishes.
Fresh high quality sushi.
This is definitely one of the best sushi I have ever had. My boyfriend and I came here for their Restaurant Week menu and we were thrilled. Their ginger ale uses fresh ginger and it has a great kick to it.
So I picked their salad, Sea Bass, sashimi and chocolate cake for dessert for my pre-fix and my boyfriend got the miso soup, steak, rolls and lychee panna cotta. In addition, they gave us a big plate of edamame beans for free.
Their sashimi and sushi are very very fresh and supreme quality. I would say it is one of the best sushi I have ever had! The sea bass is well marinated and gosh the fish is so soft and tender. The steak on the other hand, is just average. I would recommend getting the sea bass for sure. The fried spicy shrimp on the side is also a must-have. It is similar to Chinese Walnut shrimp but spicy.
The dessert dishes are both amazing. The espresso ice cream is strong and the chocolate cake is warm with fudge inside. The lychee Panna Cotta is so so soft and full of flavor.
I fell in love with Bond St and I recommend everybody to try this place out.
Best Sushi in New York City.
If you want the best Sushi in New York City, look no further. I've eaten at Bond Street approximately 10 times, and I have never been disappointed.
Their fish is incredibly high quality and fresh. Their rolls, sushi and traditional entrees are inventive. The presentation is gorgeous. The servers are extremely attentive. The drinks are terrific and innovative - Try the Sake Martini. The deserts are also fantastic.
Don't be afraid to sit at the Sushi bar rather than in the dining room. The sushi chefs are very entertaining. For those of you who are risk takers, they have something called "Chef's Choice".....it may be worth a try.
If you go, you must try the cod. It is incredible. Enjoy!!
horrible experience. I have been to Bond St a handful of times over the past few years, and always had a pretty good experience. However, after the terrible dining experience I had recently, I will not be returning. The portions seemed to have diminished in size considerably, and the Toro Tartare tasted so off my friend nor I could bother to finish it. The gem of the evening was that after asking for the waiter's advice for a bottle of sake, he brought the wrong bottle of sake (unbeknownst to us, as we told the waiter we were unfamiliar with sake) -- they proceeded to charge us for the more expensive bottle, and even brought out the unbelievably rude manager, which evidently made a scene in the small restaurant. I was appalled, and, needless to say, will not be returning.
Absolutely no "Style" whatsoever!!!. I dined at Bond Street about a week ago, for starters, don't drink the coffee at Bond Street!!! Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted with a Starbucks coffee cup on the podium in plain sight and another being transferred into another glass by the bar area....... TACKY! We waited at the bar until our party was "complete" and noticed a lot of loitering around the front area while customers dining in the restaurant had to flag down their server by raising their hand. And then there were times that there wasn't anyone at the front and new customers that were coming in the restaurant were greeted by uh, no one. The bartender finally said hello and that someone would be right with them. The hostess twice put on lipstick right in front of us - seriously... We noticed a server walking from the back of the restaurant toward the front with her arms stretched in the air the entire way????? What the @#$&. I don't want to see your armpits. The dining experience was okay, I might go back for the food and drinks. Oh, and we weren't even thanked as we left the restaurant. The two hostesses at the front didn't even raise their eyes to see us leave, they were planted on the screen in front of them. Does the phrase first and last impressions ring a bell. For as classy as the place is supposed to be, Bond Street fell far short from what I expected.
Delicious Sushi, Friendly Staff. Had dinner here on Friday night - it was packed! Definitely a popular destination for a Friday night dinner, although it seemed heavily populated with international tourists/businessmen. Not being able to decide on what to order, we went with the Bento dinner - a little sampling of everything. The sushi was delicious, as were the accompaniments included on the Bento. We ordered the Sake Sangria, which had little to no alcohol in it - disappointing for $14/glass. Dessert, which was included, was delicious. Just enough food to be full but not bursting at the seams. It is a bit pricey, but I suggest going all in for the food, and then choosing a pub on the Bowery for a drink or 2.
Stay away!. I honestly have no idea how this made the top of Citysearch's Best of list. We went for a friend's birthday last weekend. The server was apathetic at best. The food was okay - definitely not worth the price tag. Our sushi wasn't rolled properly - the pieces started falling apart almost as soon as the runner set our plates down. The lobster tempura roll that everyone was raving about was bland. In fact, with the exception of the sake steamed sea bass, all our food was bland. I ordered a lychee martini that did in fact have a lychee in the bottom of the glass but didn't taste anything like lychee. Overall, this place is a must-skip.
