Treat yourself to a taste of Italy in the heart of Greenwich Village at New York's oldest cafe, Caffe Dante. Since 1915 the cafe has been a place for people from all over to relax and enjoy freshly brewed espresso and cappuccino, which is imported directly from Naples. All of the desserts including the pastry and gelato are made right on the premises to ensure freshness. On nice days sit outside and soak up the sun while you enjoy one of the many sandwiches, salads, or cold platter appetizers from the menu, along with a drink from the full-service bar. Caffe Dante has been rated by New York Magazine's Gael Green, as the best cafe in the city. For the best Italian cafe serving fresh espresso, cappuccino, and pastry, stop by Caffe Dante today.

This classic cafe that survives changing village. I'd get there before it goes the way of the Figaro. Service not great as you are paying for image but the pastries and coffee are delicious.

Caffe Dante has a very friendly staff (they also don't mind if you linger), delicious desserts and a pleasant atmosphere.

when you walk in you think that you should have made a reservation but the staff here are great. They are Italian and the food here is excellent and the wine selection is the best. At the end of dinner you can have a nice espresso or a wonderful cream filled dessert, your choice.
