Check your bill!. I wouldn't have given the place one star even, except that the website requires it. The pizza was passable with ingredients just dumped in the middle, and the beer at $6/glass overpriced, but we could get a seat here without a wait (which should have made us suspicious) so we went for it. When the bill came they'd already put 15% on the total (which included the taxes) for our party of 3. Then they brought the credit card slip for us to sign, but did not bring back the detailed bill. The credit card slip invited another gratuity, even telling us how much 10%, 15%, 20% would be. We almost fell for it because we couldn't remember if there had been a gratuity already added. When I asked for the detailed slip, the waitress said she couldn't find it. I told her I really needed her to get one for me. When she started seeming nervous about it I figured something was up. When I saw that they were asking for an extra tip on top of the tip we already paid, I understood why. Why would they have their credit card receipts ask for a gratuity when they add one already? She said, "The receipts just always print out that way?" Yeah, I'll be they do, and the pizza is so forgettable because the oven just cooks it that way. New York is cleaning up its act for tourists, but in my opinion places like this are a vestige of the bad old days.

Best (and only) Vodka Pizza That I've Ever Tried. I look forward to San Gennaro every year just for this pizza...until I realized, of course, that I could go here all year round. I live for this vodka slice - it jazzes up a traditional marinara slice with a slightly creamy and much to my delight, sliiiiightly spicy vodka sauce that just brings pizza to a whole new level. Mmm, thinking about it now makes me hungry..and I just got back from lunch!

Don't waste your time or money. My fiance and I were in town for just a few days...and before we left we HAD to have some good New York style pizza. The hotel concierge recommended Lombardi's, so we jumped on a subway down to little Italy. Unfortunately, the line at Lombardi's was unreal...and at 20 degrees...we just wanted to sit down inside somewhere and eat. We went to Pomodoro's which was one block over and was seated almost immediately. We ordered hot wings and a large pizza. They brought us regular wings with hot sauce sprinkled over them and the carrots were drenched in hot sauce also (who eats carrots w/ hot sauce???). The pizza was not good at all...so we didnt even bother taking the five slices we had left over. By the time we left we understood why everyone was stuffed in Lombardi's and Pomodoro's was only moderatly busy. We have had better New York style pizza in Atlanta, Georgia. We will never go back. .

Service and food not worth the visit.
This review was based on a slice of pizza I had at Pomodoro.
I would not venture back to Pomodoro for any reason. I have spent my entire life in NYC and that was the worst pizza I have ever had. It was a reheated slice of pizza. Reheated pizza is common for places that sell pizza by the slice. I have no problems with that. I actually enjoy reheated pizza and grew up on reheated pizza. The sauce on my pizza was pretty much nonexistent and the cheese was unbearable. I am not sure if the cheese was real or imitation. The crust was ok. The sausage on the pizza was perfectly fine though. To be fair, perhaps other items on the menu may taste better. I love food and believe in second chances, but I was not impressed enough with this place to ever return.

Try the Pesto Ravioli in Vodka Sauce.
I very much enjoyed my ravioli filled with pesto in vodka sauce -- to die for. Garlic bread was excellent. Free salad was a nice surprise.
My friend, who recommended the restaurant because she had a prior satisfying experience, was also very happy with her classic pizza dish. I thanked her numerous times for recommending Pomodoro to me.
I will go again and am this week. This time I will introduce it to another friend.
Remember to stop by Rice to Riches, just a block away, for a supreme dessert experience.

Great food, Great place. The food was excellent and the portions were very good. The sevice was attentive. The cost was reasonable and the restarant has a casual, comfortable atmophere. The Italian menu items we tried were excellent. Try the hot applitizer, you won't be dissapointed.

Not The Best Pizza & Service in NYC.
Located on the corner for Spring and Mulberry street, Pomodoro is a disapointment.
Considering the location near the heart of little Italy, this pizza place is below typical among other resturants in the general New York Metropolitan area. Pomodoro is not a special place, but maybe for a quick lunch if you work around the area.
The pizza was soggy and was baked with a large amount of toppings. The reason why my Margarita slice toppings was falling on top of my wet paper plate.
The service was not on time, and the waitress was not helpful or positive in regards to her atitude towards my group.
Pro: Possible room for improvements, and the choice of dishes. I will have to visit later to try a hot dish. This review was based on the pizza and the service.
Cons: Service was not nice, and the portions on the pizza needs work.

I Dont Understand the Positive Reviews. Sadly this was one of my first New York pizzas. Pretty average. Whatever, could do without. Especially since there are tons of better places all over New York and it doesn't take long to get anywhere. I guess some people like average. I don't. Oh well.

Must try the lasagna!.
My husband and I are huge Italian food fans, so we seek out restaurants all over the world. This one always has us coming back for more.
Small and cramped, Pomodoro (located on the corner of Spring and Mulberry) offers tasty homestyle food. Nothing fancy, just good chow-down food.
Sit down for a plate of their hearty gooey lasagna or, if you are on the run, grab a wedge of their delicious take-out pizza pie.
The house Chianti is excellent, too.
Pomodoro, in Little Italy, is a must -stop on a New York trip.
